Wake @ Syracuse: 3pm RSN

I really really hope Bates and at least one of the RBs are ready to go for the State game.

I imagine some younger fans get tired of hearing about a 1979 mythical Auburn game that is not adequately documented with video. I understand, but it really was that special.

In 1978 we were 1-10; in 1977 we were also 1-10.

And yes, the Auburn coach actually said the refs were intimidated by the crowd.....

While not as meaningful, this Syracuse game was as much fun to watch. I admit that I almost bailed after the first half.

That (1978 Auburn game) really was the greatest football game Eye ever saw!

I have watched Wake football for over 50 years and was at the famous Auburn game, but the offensive performance yesterday was second to none. Congrats to Wolford and the offense and hats off to the D for making it count in the second half. It was a great day to be a Deac.

That fall we also beat UGA in Athens—the “Never, never, never, never, never, never, never give up game”. It was huge!

Is Colburn injured?

I meant one of the two injured guys- Carney and Byrd. Either one would be great to have against State, although I kind of like Byrd's speed more as a change of pace from Colburn, as opposed to Carney who is the same type of back as Colburn. I'm surprised Robinson didn't get any carries, but if Colburn can handle the workload that's great with me.

Bates is the biggest injury we have right now. I thought it was Dortch, but the way Wolford is playing, and with some of the other guys stepping up- primarily Hines, Bates is a bigger loss. Having him back for State would be huge.

True enough, but we were AT the Auburn game which is a special memory. But damn, yesterday was fun!

Weaver‘s 41-yard FG as time ran out in the first half was huge. Going into the half down 14 instead of three scores gave the game a totally different feel.

major credit to Matt for getting a couple yards and down to the ground with :02 left. they showed the replay with him looking up at the clock; just heads-up, smart football there

I just watched the game on ESPN 3. Holy shit!
I would have had 3 heart attacks. Them blocking the extra point to tie it was so Wake Forest. Yet this team kept making plays!! 3rd and forever because of one of out 10 penalties.. No problem. They just kept coming.

Fucking amazing and offense like nothing I have ever seen from Wake Forest. Just incredible.

Yes! Let's not forget that going from kicking a XP to tie to a three point deficit is a major gut punch. And our defense overcame it and didn't allow a single point.

Same here. Auburn was amazing. But I've never experienced anything like yesterday. 64 freakin' points is massive.

Throwing 3rd stringers out there in situations can be tough. It takes awhile to adjust to the speed of a competitive D1 football game I am sure.

Maybe the light started to come on in the 2nd half.

Even the first half when we gave up 38 points, pretty much everything bad that could have happened did they converted several 4th downs, we had the muffed punt. Missed a great chance at a TO. A few of those go our way and they have 21 or 24 points at the half. Not great, but not 38.

Well it took 4 halves. Not too bad.

I kept that quote from the newspaper headline on my refrigerator for about 5 years.
I also tell UGA fans that the Dawgs have been afraid to play us since then.

Auburn was a great win and I was there!! Not sure the heart could have handled being there yesterday. A great win!! Same thing as the Auburn game. I knew we could score, but did not think we could stop the Orange! Props to both the offense that kept the peddle down and props to the defense for holding them to 3 points in the second half. Now lets put behind us when we get off the plane and take it to State and Duke.

I can’t stop thinking about yesterday, so proud of our team for coming back like they did. I’m glad they had a lot more faith than I did. I thought it was over at halftime because I didn’t think we’d be able to get enough stops to have chance to come back and then we would win the 2nd half 40-5, beyond anything I could’ve hoped for.

I watched the replay of the game last night, and when you know the outcome of the game, there is so much new stuff you see. There were so many big plays in that game, both on the offense and defense. So many heroes in that second half, but Wolford worked his magic almost to perfection. Colburn carried the ball so many times and ran so hard. The two interceptions by JS & JW. Wolford's run on 4th and one was so smart. Watching the D-back trying to adjust to him and falling down wildly was too much fun as JW just ran by him. Weaver hit some big field goals, and he almost caught that guy on the XP block and return. The O-line was stout all day, and the whole defense was strong in second half. Everybody talks about halftime adjustments. Congrats to coaches and team.

Y’all enjoying the color casters: Wes Durham , James Bates?

I haven't read the rest of this thread so apologies if this has already been addressed, but Wes Durham sounds a whole lot like Dean's boy, Woody Durham. Does anyone know if this is genetic?
