Pit Boss Beer Thread

Any NC beer drinkers remember Olde Rabbits Foot? It was a collab done by Olde Hickory, Foothills, & Duck Rabbit that they stopped doing around 2012. They've made it again for the first time in a while and are releasing it this weekend. Wondering if anyone had it when they used to do it? I wasn't aware of it until now.

Seems like it's a blend of Sexual Chocolate, Event Horizon, and Duck Rabbit's imperial stout that is then aged in bourbon barrels. Sounds delicious.

Great beer if you get a chance to get to one of the breweries and have it.

Asheville is going crazy today as it's the release of Highland's Cold Mountain in stores. Just picked up a couple of 12 packs and a few 22oz. bottles at the Ingles by work.

I love Cold Mountain.
Anybody know if there's still Olde Rabbit's Foot bottles left? I was busy all weekend :/

Not sure - hopefully at least on draft at the breweries for you. Definitely worth tracking down

Cold mountain is good, but a wee bit overrated

agreed. would never go traipsing all over town to find it, but the Ingles is like a quarter mile from my office so not a big lift to check it out. wife is gonna hit one in Weaverville on the way home, but if they don't have any we're ok.

In craft brewery consolidation news, Catawba announced today that it is acquiring Charleston's Palmetto Brewing Company:

now their logo will fully make sense. hint: flip it upside down.

Right at noon, I got the last 12 pack of Cold Mountain at the Charlotte/Woodlawn Total Wine. Unreal the cult following it has (of which I'm a part).

Cold Mountain wasn’t at my local shop tonight but I did pick up a sixer of Great Lakes Christmas Ale, which I typically enjoy just as much.

Last year's batch was better I think.

Hmm.. that's what I said last year.

FYI the Olde Rabbit's Foot answer is yes, the tasting room had at least two dozen bottles in the fridge when I showed up after work yesterday. Picked up 3.

Had a 22 last night, saved one bottle from last year, and will compare tonight or later this week. If I remember correctly, last year's had a bit more of a smooth/vanilla taste, while this year a little more coffee. I could be way off, though.

this year's is a little more bitter and I feel like last year had more winter spice to it. this is only the 2nd year I've tasted it since I moved to Asheville last year and had never had this particular beer since it's obvi so hard to find.

The Foothills tasting room?

Brawley's still had quite a bit left last night in 12 packs and bombers.

They still mark it up 2 or 3 times normal retail, and break up the 12 packs to where you can only buy a couple 12 oz bottles at a time? I kind of quit checking because of that.

this is the first year I've picked some up...I enjoy it a lot. I'm getting a pretty nutty finish. Very smooth.
