Judge Moore accused of sexually assaulting/pursuing underage girls in his 30s

there is definitely a fetishization of minorities that exists in the Democratic party

I believe that identify politics are necessary, critical even, to moving forward from racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. realities

however, the Democratic vision is one where vast economic inequality persists, but the rich are more diverse

whatever, I'll stop. las night was a nice takedown of a total dipshit supported by total dipshits. And many black people in Alabama did indeed do much of the heavy lifting to make it happen.

MDMH won’t be happy till everything is free and there’s no longer a stratification of society by money or intelligence and all large corporations are returned to the people. Don’t worry he will respond here using a phone made by Samsung on a network run by AT&T.

man, democrat self loathing is strong

Had a long post, not about Moore-Jones, deleted it.

Glad Moore, Trump, and Bannon continue to lose.

I am annoyed with how easily black people are turned into a monolith by Democrats

As long as southern Republicans continue to support candidates like Moore, the monolith will rightfully continue. This election was an opportunity for Republicans to change the dialogue. Some (Kasich being one) viewed it as such with the #countryoverparty directive. But it only takes one of these elections to effect the political landscape for a decade in the black community (once again, rightfully so). In order to earn trust you have to be consistent over years, not just over an election cycle. So it will be back to the drawing board for Republicans/conservatives on the Kasich/Romney wing of the party in a lot of ways. In some ways this election helps the sane conservatives as we try to win the party back, but in the same vein it hurts us as we attempt to make a conservative plea to people outside the party.

Charles Barkley talked about the black community’s relationship with democrats (and vice versa) last night. Actually refreshing to hear.

I am very glad that Doug Jones won, but this doesn't take away a lot of the problems that this country faces.

The tweet that Townie just posted is a lot of it---there is a party that feels like they can nominate somebody like that (because they can), and he would have won were it not for child molestation accusations by nearly 10 women, and that STILL almost wasn't enough for him to lose. Were it not for the African-American vote then this there would be an alleged hebephile heading to DC shortly.

What the hell is wrong with white people who still voted in overwhelming numbers for this guy?

The two folks who I engage with on Twitter who are "conservatives" said that voting in this special election was a "true moral dilemma" if you believe that abortion is murder. Of course one of them believed what Fox News/right wing media had said about Doug Jones "believing in full-term abortion" (which is obviously not true). I don't really even know how to engage in conversations like that, but there are a ton of uneducated and educated folks all over the country who still believe this stuff.

It's terrifying to me that the only thing that kept Moore out of the Senate was likely the child molestation accusations. This candidate was freaking endorsed by the POTUS AND the RNC. That's just downright scary.

A long time ago we lived in a different world.

What I see is Moore being a creepy guy. Did he rape anyone? Is he really a child molester? A pedophile like Sandusky? Was he Aqualung hanging around malls? He liked going out with teens (weirdo and creepy) and apparently got fresh (what you called it BACK THEN)

A creepy guy with a reputation that EVERYONE KNEW ABOUT. We had em when I was a kid. Pedophiles and molesters are sneaky bastards.

The Dems were desperate to get that seat. This isn’t about morals and a child molester. Child molesters, pedophiles, rapists go to prison. Moore was a creepy weirdo. That’s what we called them back then when y’all weren’t born yet. HIT job for sure. Taking what happened a lifetime ago with no proof and turning it into a Sandusky story.

However, the only good that came out of this is the black vote. I’m assuming all those motor vehicles closed gave them a huge disadvantage. This victory was a winner for them.

Viet Nam bothered me. My brother in law and cousin rotted in that hell hole. How did he wind up over there? The privileged rich white college kids had daddy’s lawyer write letters for them. All the other 18 year olds who were drafted HAD no choice.

Politics is a dirty business. If we are going to dig back to a different world and a different time, put it in perspective. If this stuff is the new normal, any man age 60+ is a target for allegations without any proof whatsoever.

Congrats OG. Hope Davey Jones can help Alabama join the 21st century. I also hope he can help the Dems to stop whining and get to work.

Please don't normalize and justify the behavior of a serial hebephile.

He's not a just a "creepy guy", he targeted underage women because he was attracted to them and stalked them. That's not anything close to just being creepy.

Also, even if you believe that he is "just creepy", this still should 100% disqualify him from being endorsed by one of two major parties in the United States and the RNC. His stances on homosexuality, comments on slavery, action in the Alabama judicial system when he was a judge, and multiple other offenses should have disqualified him, but likely only endeared him more to his base down there. That's a huge problem.

Can we please stop excusing the sexual assault of 14 year olds by saying it was a "different time"? Probably not the example you want to set for your kids.

townie's tweet is sobering but keep in mind it was Alabama. i think that matters a little bit

What other states do you think somebody who runs on a platform like Roy Moore (sans the accusations) could win with that baggage/stances?

I’m not going to jump on board with the theory that it’s a “hit job” to report inappropriate behavior from someone running for public office regardless of when it occurred - no matter how many times Fox News, breitbart, or republican posters on here claim otherwise
