2017 National Signing Day - Early Period - All 21 Have Signed!

It feels weird. Wonder if we get a head start on 2019 now.

I think yes.
Clawson referred to not having much time to organizing spring visits with current juniors, as is needed with the early signing period. I'm sure he and staff will be using what little time they have to get a jump on 2019

A head start on who? Who hasn’t signed their classes?

A lot of the big boys probably aren't filling out their classes today. Alabama only signed 10 today for example. I bet many of the hat pickers wait for the spotlight of real NSD. Keeping after those kids will require investment of resources we don't have to commit.

2019. Not 2018

I know. The presumption is other programs haven’t locked in their 2018 classes and we would have a head start on them for 2019.

After watching the highlight videos on these guys, the thing that stood out the most to me was the attitude that they played with. It seems like every one of them plays like the other guy slapped their mom. It's awesome!

This....is.....a......Great......Class.

Indeed. Rankings wise, it's our second best since 2010. Probably further back than that, but 247 is hit and miss with getting all of our recruits in.

The best was 2015. Washington, Hines, Colburn, Hinton, Wade, Strnad, Bates, Gilliam, Bachman, Mays. Those guys all will be big time contributors next year, obviously. (TE Archibald was also part of this class. We could have REALLY used him next year)

I think Grobe's two best classes were the "fresh deacs" class (04?), and the 2002 class.

What happened to Archibald? He was transferring to USF but isn't on their roster.

I guess there was a glitch in the transfer, then family problems/issues (which is one of the reasons for the transfer I think)?

Not Wake related unfortunately, but 5 star DE/OLB KJ Henry (West Forsyth High School), son of former Grobe Assistant Keith Henry, is announcing his decision today at 4:20pm. It will be aired on ESPNU. He will be choosing between Alabama, Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia Tech. I remember him as a young kid running around the Wake practice fields. Good for him, hope he makes Clemmons, NC proud.

ETA: Looks like 247 has 100% Clemson predictions. North Carolina was the early favorite. Glad he rose in the rankings and get attention from better programs.

KJ's announcement. Really classy. Clemson got a great athlete and great kid. Will be rooting for the Winston-Salem native, just not against the Deacs.

Always a fun thought experiment to think of who will contribute immediately for the team.

Obviously Nick Sciba sticks out to me as the kicker since it's either him or Adam Centers (I assume he's still on the team?) for that job.

Aside from him Sam Hartman, if true that he is enrolling early, could push Hinton and Newman for a starting spot (although I believe that will ultimately fall to Hinton) or a backup spot since Hinton isn't always going to be healthy.

I also think that Ryan Smenda could get a shot depending on how the RS-FR do at linebacker this year. Peyton Woulard is also a candidate at safety for some backup minutes to Glenn and Bates.

Maybe Maggio gets a shot at kicking and a kicker gets a shot at punting.

We are loaded at the QB and RB position right now.

Yet at one point, Hinton was our 2nd RB this season.

I knew a little about Sam Hartman's story as he's a local guy, but this sums it up well. We've signed a tough young kid.

If you haven't taken a few minutes to read this article, you should.
It will be worth your while to know Hartman's story.
As it says, he has the 'it' factor. He's a leader and a winner.
Expect some exciting things from him in the years ahead......maybe sooner rather than later.

In his video, Manning is introduced as a grey shirt. I am not going to listen to the other 20 videos but I wonder if a couple of these kids will be enrolling in January 2019.

We signed TWO 5'10" wide receivers. Which means at least one of them is really 5'9" lol. Ouch. Long live LOWF!
