I am so sick of this shit I can’t stand it!

Also, to counteract the “this year’s results will affect recruiting for 2019,” we are getting awesome new facilities. That’s a damn good selling point and seems to mark a “new age” for our b-ball program as a whole. Manning and Randolph can definitely sell A+ new facilities to recruits.

Just read a really good article from BSD that sums up the main frustrations we've all been posting about all season. Talks about substitutions, defensive effort(or lack thereof), and our guards inability and unwillingness to look for Doral. Oh and it talks about the ridonkulous lack of playing time for Chaundee.

They can post it if they want but it's worth the read.

Plus X had 2 successful coaches (Matta and Miller) poached during that period, and each time they were able to replace them with another successful coach. They really haven't had any dud coaching hires in a long, long time. Must be nice...

Perhaps we need to hire their AD rather than their coach...

A four guard lineup should disqualify you from coaching an ACC team. A four guard lineup in the waning minutes of a winnable road game within one possession should disqualify you from coaching D1. Un-fucking-believable

State ran a 4 guard lineup almost exclusively in the final 10 minutes. Makes sure you let Keats down lightly. That’s a tough fire.

Ice cold 0-8 from 3 for Craw and Chill. Hit a few of those and we win.

Also Sarr just crapped the bed for about 4 consecutive possessions in half 1.

I was a little off on the Beverly kid. Scrappy. Kind of like TJ McConnell. Still no excuse for our NBA PG to allow him to score, but a decent player.

Dude stop. Just stop. You’re talking about facilities? Who gives a shit about a coach’s ability to sell new facilities? The new age for our b-ball program will Be when we start winning. Open your eyes. Facilities and recruiting aren’t going to get that done. We need serious changes to our once proud program.

Fantastic last two posts Wrangor. Completely on board with this train of thought. Manning is recruiting a roster that fits what he wants to do - play defense and play fast as a result of defense (I know, sounds weird for a Manning team, right?). I think Wright is going to be a lot better than recruiting analysts think, also. He just played in AAU that has less publicity.

Also, you’re right on point with the “next wake coach will be great if Manning doesn’t work out.” Likely any coach in the country would want to coach our roster with the length and athleticism we’ll have by the time they’d come. I think Manning will work out, but this is a good point (if they can keep the players we have from transferring if Manning is let go).

If Manning really wanted to play a Long athletic lineup, Brown, Mitchell, and
Melo would get more minutes.

Facilities and recruits do not matter. You should tell that to all the big programs. Selling facilities without results for our football program mattered, but does not make a difference in b-ball.

You are living in la la land. I really don’t understand how you think Manning is all of a sudden going to turn things around or how you rationalize defending him. He just played one of his best recruits for seven minutes in a conference road game. Good luck selling that and some new facilities to top flight players in the country who are looking to go to programs with a proven coach and a winning record. Manning is now, what, 51-63 as Wake’s HC?

You say you don’t always defend Manning. That might be true (a bit of a reach, though, since you almost always fall back on the bullshit mantra that players have to make plays, the coaches didn’t miss FTs and wide open layups, etc...) but you’re way too optimistic about what he’s shown so far. He was a huge gamble when we hired him and the gamble hasn’t paid off. Not sure what else there is to discuss, but please keep telling us all how great everything will be when we get some new recruits because of our sparkly new facilities. #Manningout

Christ. Apples and Oranges. What does this even mean, by the way? Should a coach just match the other coach’s scheme or look to exploit it? Are you both really defending the four guard lineup that DM put in there because Keats did the same?

I didn’t say facilities were the only reason we’d get “some new recruits”. I’ve expressed in plenty of posts that I hope Manning gets better at in game coaching but more likely he’ll be able to recruit his way “out” of those problems. If we don’t perform well next season and his recruiting falls off then I will be in the group that wants him gone. I like him as a person, agree it was a gamble, and am hoping for the best. I recognize his fallbacks and hope he works through them, however likely that is. Again, next year will tell us all we need to know about him. I’d just rather remain somewhat positive about things than be doom and gloom all the time. It doesn’t seem like fun carrying the attitude that a lot of people on the boards seem to have. That’s their choice, and I have made mine.

See post on other thread for answer

The point was made that any coach who runs a four guard lineup should be fired. I merely pointed out the idiocy of that statement.

I personally feel our four guard lineup is a huge mistake and hate it when Danny does it. But that doesn’t mean that statements like that should get a free pass. This board is like an angry 4 year old who just screams about everything when it doesn’t get to win chutes and ladders.

We don't have an nba point guard. And Chill is the only guard who plays any semblance of D

Yep, Key and Wilbekin try but don't have the lateral quickness to guard an ACC guard. Now Bryant has the ability, just chooses no to.

Manning likes shooters way more than any other part of the game. Height, defense, & rebounding win games. Manning plays his best shooters regardless.

He plays terrible lineups and wastes the height and athleticism sitting on the pine.

Melo, Chaundeec, & Sarr should be seeing more time.

Our guards are fine if played 2 at a time. Throwing 3 & 4 at a time on the floor makes Wake look like a sunbelt team.

Yeah everything this. It’s crazy how much a lot of you people just sound like spoiled children whining about something. You can be frustrated and not say ridiculous things at the same time. The knee-jerk, purely emotional reactions are the ones that bother me and I call them out.
