BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

I just watched a bunch of mix tapes of Hoard, Mucius, and Chaundee Brown.

I can't explain how excited I am for us to have Hoard on the court... Haven't had a player like him in a long time.

Mucius looks like he can help immediately at the 3... But he's going to need to put on some weight to reach his potential.

Put another way, a lineup of Crawford/Brown/Mucius/Hoard/Moore makes my pants a little tight.

Now we just need some good news for 2019... Would like a PG & a big.

There... We're back on track in the recruiting thread.

They're tight because you're fat fatty.

Mainly put backs.

Duncan was literally unique and comparisons should be avoided in all cases. I stayed up until midnight to watch his first game as a Deacon in the old Alaska shoot-out tournament against Alaska-Anchorage. Childress was sick and didn't play and we lost - to Alaska-Anchorage. IIRC, Duncan didn't score. I am no basketball guru but I came away from watching that game knowing he would be special. It is hard to describe if you didn't see it but it was obvious. The footwork, the way he kept his hands high on defense and caught the ball high off rebounds, his timing on shot-blocking, the way he caught anything that came near him... It all just looked like it came naturally and easy to him.

Duncan had a sweet post up game his sophomore year. Go back and watch the 1995 acc tourney. To say he scored 16 points a game on putbacks and was raw offensively is just not accurate. At all.

Special. Good description of the first impression of Duncan. He looked raw on offense but seven rebounds in ten minutes with a presence that the rim was defended. When my brothers asked about the game the next morning they laughed when I said the Deacs lost but I added that the Deacs had a legit center. They laughed even harder. Big Ten alums. They made a point to ask about Duncan when we got together at Christmas. I replied he was the best defensive center in the NCAA. They chuckled and asked for a comparison. My reply was Bill Russell. Laughter was replaced by incredulity. Needless to say, I got the last laugh and props for an early, accurate assessment. Blind squirrel found the acorn. One of the reasons TD is my all time sports favorite.

There’s a great portion during the Wake win at Cameron Duncan’s freshman year (Childress buried the game winner over Grant Hill) where the color commentator (Dan Bonner I think) just marveled at this Duncan kid. He said stuff like “I think he’s going to be a very good player one day” and other lines that are hilarious in retrospect.

What was his ranking for 19? Could be a decent option to project as a two year out center with a year under manning for development before having to give minutes.

I have no clue, I could only find this. I agree with you he would be a good guy to develop

Reminds me of the time I was talking to some UNC fans at my big 4 firm during Grobe's first year and I said that he will lead Wake Forest to a special football season.

Cherokee Parks could not get a shot off that night. Duncan blocked everything. It seems like he had about 10 blocks that game.
