BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

Why are people hyped over this video? In an all-star game he showed he can dunk ... wow. He also had a nice push off for the layup. Melo is athletic too, and his jumper looks like when the disabled student-manager checks in for the last game of the JV season. Takes a lot more than dunking to be good in the ACC. Kid is rail thin, and I'm not saying he won't be good down the line, but Mucius is not some instant impact player who will make a difference in ACC games. Give him time, but don't expect to be wow'd by his stats year 1.

You act like this is the only video that exists of him. It’s a highlight film of him dunking, shows athleticism. People like seeing highlights of our recruits, especially ones that show easy athleticism. He might not be an “impact player” from day one (and odds are that he won’t be) , but the first half of this post is not good.

This. It's been made blatantly apparent.

Look, people are just worried that Manning will fumble his way back to the first four on the backs of two highly talented freshman and a senior and "earn" another three years as Wake's HC. We are convinced that he is not good enough to be Wake's coach, that he got lucky last year, might get lucky again next year and then we'll be stuck with him. If he pulls off 24 wins and gets to the sweet 16, great give him 3 more years, everyone is happy, Whoohoo!!! If he gets 17 wins and gets an invite to the NIT, whoopty-doo....yeah I'd rather we only win 8 games than 16 so that Welman has no wiggle room to keep the shitshow going.

I'd rather win 8 regular season games than 16 regular season games. I'd rather win 20 regular season than either 8 or 16.

Where does that fall on the good fan/bad fan spectrum?

I think people are hyped over Mucius in general - not just from this video.

In this post you were: 1) Negative about an incoming top-100 recruit. You have ZERO clue how much of an impact Zeke will have...No one does until they take the court. Example - "He also had a nice push off for a layup" "why are people hyped about this video". 2) you Insulted a current player by saying "his jumper looks like when the disabled student-manager checks in for the last game of the JV season". 3) continued to ignore the fact that Hoard/Mucius/Wright/Lewis will be addition by subtraction when replacing Wilbekin and Woods.

I get it that Danny was awful on the sidelines this year but RJ isn't far off. You strike me as the self fulfilling prophecy type that hopes we have massive turnover and lose Craw/Moore so you can say "told you so".

As mentioned, it's going to be a long off season. Let this things play out.

Lets give everyone a participation trophy, or we can just be honest. I'm not trying to hope Wake sucks by making truthful comments. Mucius' off hand on the layup would likely be called an offensive foul in a real game, Melo's jumper does look broken every time he took a shot last season, and both those guys are toothpicks in real life. I get some people want to be optimistic, but ignoring negative truths or calling people out for stating them is like filtering your news so you don't hear any "trigger words." Now back to recruiting, what good news have we heard for 2019?

I get it, people want something to cheer for. Sorry for trying to temper expectations.

Referring to one of our players shots as disabled student manager is pretty effed up, any way you wanna slice it.

And to edit, FTR, I most likely wouldn't have singled out your post if you had left that out. Pretty messed up thing to say about anyone, especially a current student athlete on the team you love.

I hope the staff checks out AOT on the Nike tour. Isaac Okoro will be a rank climbing wing in the '19 class for them and they have '20 pg Noah Farrakhan. 2 good recruits to go after. I don't think we've offered Okoro yet, but we should.

I don’t care about the general opinion, and I agree he won’t have a make or break impact on next season. Just an unnecessary way of expressing it, but you do you.

"Maryland grad transfer Dion Wiley told ESPN he has heard from Georgia, Wake Forest, UAB and New Mexico State. Will visit South Alabama this week." From Jeff Goodman.

Yes, please. Would be immediately eligible. Former top 50 recruit with injuries over his career but big guard who can shoot it.

Manning is elite at showing interest.

Almost everyone with space shows interest. Wiley needs to show a lot more than he did at MD. Maybe his injuries did him in, but he wasn't very good.

The hottest of hot takes when viewing a recruits highlights - "he's rail thin! needs to get stronger and gain weight before he can compete at the next level!" Really? A 16/17 year old kid needs to get stronger to compete with 19/20 year old kids? Who knew?

Xavier, Wake Forest, Creighton, Memphis & St Bonaventure are the latest to speak with UTC grad-transfer Nat Dixon, per source. He will take an official visit to Wake Forest in the coming weeks

Not exactly. Brandon Ingram killed everyone as a freshman, but he was way more talented.
