BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

"Maryland grad transfer Dion Wiley told ESPN he has heard from Georgia, Wake Forest, UAB and New Mexico State. Will visit South Alabama this week." From Jeff Goodman.

Yes, please. Would be immediately eligible. Former top 50 recruit with injuries over his career but big guard who can shoot it.

This is a guy you really need to do "due diligence" on. How close to (or far away from) his top 50 recruiting rank is he? How much did the injuries impact his career to this point? How complete is his recovery? Are there going to be lingering compromises to his BB skills? Why is he leaving MD? Has he been recruited over, and not likely to start next season or???

Chattanooga played one of the worst SOS this year, but Dixon played admirably against their top opponents:

Against KP Top-100: 7 games, 37.5 minutes/game, 13.7 points/game, 5 rebounds/game, 1.6 assists/game, 0.9 steals/game, 40% FG, 35% 3PT

That said, he seems like a real streaky shooter. In those games alone, he went off for 30 points against WES and UNCG on 9/16 shooting (3/6 from deep), but in the rematch went 2/8 (1/5 from deep) with 6 TO.

Could certainly complement the team as a rotational player/shooter, but I wouldn't want him on the floor for more than 15 minutes/game.

Still weird to see a Maryland player I’ve never heard of.

Manning and Turgeon are close maybe that will turn out to be a plus.

So what is your point?

My point is that 90-95% of the kids you see in recruiting videos are skinny and under-developed because they are only 15, 16 or 17 years old, so pointing it out in comments about the recruit is pretty pointless... It would make more sense to point out the exceptions.

The other 4.99-9.99% are fat.

The remaining 0.01% is Chaundee.

The hottest of hot takes when viewing a recruits highlights - "he's rail thin! needs to get stronger and gain weight before he can compete at the next level!" Really? A 16/17 year old kid needs to get stronger to compete with 19/20 year old kids? Who knew?

Apparently many on here have forgotten just how much their own bodies changed in the years between 15 or 16 and 18/19.These guys are (now) 17 months from being college students, and 20 months before they could play in a college basketball game. The videos were made from plays that occurred some months ago. They will have nearly two years to fill out between much of the tape material and the beginning of College basketball for them. Compare them to guys who are three years older and have been in college strength and conditioning regimens for over 6 months and yeah, they generally look skinny.

Its not pointless if the point is a 18-19 year old (you forget these guys stay back a year to work on ball) is unlikely to be a difference maker as a freshman in the ACC, with the exception being top 30 recruits.

We aren't losing Moore. Doral will not get drafted this year.

Of course, you and many others here want us to suck next year for you to be proven "right".

I don't think we can just declare we won't lose Moore definitively. It doesn't make any sense for him to leave really. If he wants to learn more for another year, there is really no better place to be than where he is at. He may not want to hear that today, but it is the truth.

None of y'all know how close either player is to graduating. Moore will eventually play pro somewhere, as that is what 7' athletes do for the foreseeable future. Whether it's the NBA remains to be seen. But if he is about to graduate early this spring or about to finish up this summer, then maybe he doesn't want to be a "grad student" playing basketball at Wake anymore. For that matter, both of them might assess where their draft stock is, find out from some talent evaluators and scouts where they stand and go from there. Which very likely could mean graduating ahead of schedule and moving the eff on. As a 21 y/o rising senior with some pro BB prospects, I'd much rather enjoy Europe than hang around Winston and the lame-ass millennial students who don't seem to give a shit about attending BB games anymore.

The most recent video posted is from an all-star game played this past weekend. Doesn't get more current than that.
