Danny Manning Credibility Watch

Sad but true.... and highly likely the TV gig is the only way he ever goes to the Final 4. :(

DM’s only chance of a late March TV appearance is what he did 30 year’s ago...this does absolutely nothing to help Wake Forest

This appearance might get a few recruits interested... until they look at his coaching record Facepalm

Look on the bright side...we have the third best coach in the Triad. Think about that ...

Neither of those local coaches are going to be on the TV pregame broadcast Saturday. Danny is scheduled to be on TV,

Yea buddy! He can talk about what happened to his Kansas team 30 some years ago. Certainly can’t talk about anything during his coaching career.

Coach down the road isn't known as the guy who carried his team to the championship. Few know he was on the team. And that is why I said few, not "no other"

Oh, I agree with what you're saying, but to a 17 y/o recruit who is not 7' tall, a hot young coach who was also a part of a UNC championship as a "gritty" walk-on probably has more appeal than a coach with a mediocre record and who played a dozen years before they were born.

Not a defense of Manning, but Miller has a pretty mediocre coaching record. Unless you’re comparing just last year.

The only mention of Wake is going to be part of DM's intro. The rest of DM's time is going to be spent on Kansas and this year's FF match-ups. But yeah, the name check during the 3pm Saturday time slot will totally help with recruiting.

If Doral does leave (along with the others leaving), it is very possible our record could be every bit as bad as this season. We have absolutely no shot at making the Dance. That would make dumb ass Danny 0-5. The freakin play in game does not count especially when you get embarrassed. He should have been fired immediately following the ACC Tournament loss. Instead we are facing another year of watching DM get out coached game after game. It is painfully obvious he lacks the intelligence, passion, and coaching acumen to be successful at this level. He MAY be a solid assistant but that is his ceiling. FU Hatch and Wellman.

I watched, please don't ask me why, the entire hour that Manning was on the Final Four pre-game show on Saturday.

There was absolutely NO mention of Wake Forest.

He was NOT introduced as the current coach at Wake and there was no reference to Wake during the entire show(unless it was during my Manning-induced nap). Also, every other coach that appeared on these shows through out the tournament made it a point to wear their schools logo on their lapels. Not Manning. Chris Mack took it a step further and wore a Louisville team jacket. They took every chance to promote their teams. Not Manning.

Manning plugged only one team and that was Kansas.

Wake got absolutely zilch recruiting-wise out of our Mannings appearance on national TV. Pathetic performance.

But was there a DoveMenCare promotion?

If it wasn't for the reports about Wake being active in recruiting, I'd take JOJESMA's post as a sign Manning's firing will be announced tomorrow. I hope you just missed the Wake mention. It's tough to believe a college coach would go on TV and nobody mention his job.

If the above is true, that is troubling because it means that Danny conceded one of the advantages he has over most other coaches: his cachet from the "Danny and the Miracles" NCAA tournament title run. That is why he was on the panel. He really, really needs to parlay that entry into helping him get some additional pub for Wake and his recruiting players to Wake.

To be fair, Danny isn’t selling the average basketball fan on Wake Forest. He’s selling high school players that he, or his staff, have already contacted. When they see him on TV they know who he is and that he is Wake’s coach, without him needing to mentioning it.
