Right. He wasn't a contender for the Wake job in 2001. We discussed him quite a bit starting around when Pitt offered Skip.

Jay was discussed both during Skip's Pitt flirtation and after Skip's death. The downside was that he was not likely to leave Villanova at either time.
 
It’s a shame that we don’t have those old coaching search threads archived. They would be instructive for the next coaching search. My top choice in 2001 was Mark Few. He wasn’t a realistic choice in hindsight considering he never left Gonzaga. I never would have guessed he would be a lifer there. Kudos to those pushing for Thad Matta at the time. I thought that was a shortsighted choice based on the emotion of upsetting us.
 
National announcers rooting for Mich is getting annoying.

Grant Hill brings absolutely nothing to the table as a broadcaster.

I’d love to see the premium chat where Deman led us to believe Wake was hiring a star like Billy Donovan to be shook when Jeff Goodman broke Wake’s interest in [Redacted].
