We got invited to go see an elementary school performance of "The Little Mermaid" on Saturday night by old neighbors. At first I was like, "eh...if it's like 30 minutes, we could do that." But then it was revealed to me that the run time for an ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PLAY is 2 hours. 2 hours?! That's longer than the damn movie. Also, my kids aren't even in this. So now I'm like:

We support our close friends and their kids and they support ours.

Granted, it's middle school, but our friends are going with us to my son's band concert tonight.
 
word. I don't have any kids so I guess I just couldn't see your perspective. how much do these things cost?
 
Kids greatly expand your social networks as well. Some of our best friends now are our kids' friends parents.
 
i don't think they start charging until HS

two hours plus is insane, unless that's an estimate for how long it will feel
 
I am trying out my new full body bathing suit and facekini while I swim laps at lunch today. Pumped! Seeing as I work somewhere with almost nude co-eds, I think I am going to get a lot of laughs and strange looks at the pool.
