Official 2018 NBA Offseason Thread: the preseason cometh

My comment on the window being shorter is due to money and contracts, not player age.

I feel like we have these same conversations every year.

Who is going to stop Lebron’s Heat?

If money and contracts were going to stop anything, it would have stopped them from getting KD in the first place. If the core four are contend with how much they're getting paid to win championships every year, money isn't going to stop anything.

Health stopped the Heat, but the Heat weren't unstoppable anyway. This is like if the Heat had added CP after Lebron's 3rd year in Miami.

I think you're underestimating how good the Warriors are and how sustainable this is.

Bzgenius is just toying with the Warriors. He's going to lock them up with a brilliant out of the box triangle and two on Curry and Durant.

Sorry Warriors fans, Coach Redacted is about to unleash a world of pain. Get the Vice reporter on the phone for a follow up story

I think you are underestimating the tendency for things to change.

There are so many ways things can fall apart.

a lot of people forget that the warriors once blew a 3-1 lead in the nba finals

Oh sure. There could be personality issues. But it would be very difficult for another franchise to compete with the Warriors without further breaking the system. That's the issue.

next year: Kyrie-Brown-Gordon-Tatum-Horford

next year: Kyrie-Brown-Gordon-Tatum-Horford

That's that hope.

The flipside of all this is any franchise can do what the Warriors are doing if they just have 3 or 4 straight good drafts. If the Lakers had taken Porzingus instead of Russell in 2015, we could have been having this conversation about them in a few years.

I also think that unless Cleveland wins it all this year, Lebron is going to pull all the strings he can this offseason to position himself on whatever team with whatever co-stars and supporting cast he thinks gives him the best shot at another title. Not sure what team that is, but he'll definitely work some magic to try and pull some kind of superteam together.

if lbj does this and he beats jordan's bulls plus hakeem i can not wait for ph's gymnastics to avoid calling him GOAT.

It's not just me. Others dispute your post...well before you tried to walk it back.

Dude. I'm not walking anything back. I think the Warriors bench is their weakness. There are a lot of benches in the NBA much better than the Warriors. But that is not a huge statement. Livingston is a nice 12-15 minute per game player and a good change of pace for Steph. But the Warriors figured out that with Steph out for an extended period, you cannot throw him out there for 30+ minutes. His production plummets. Thus, Quin Cook.

And Livingston is their best bench player with Iggy starting. I do like Looney, but mostly just on this team. He doesn't have to do anything on offense and he understand the pecking order. I liked Bell when he was playing/healthy, but both guys are really young. I also like the McGraw kid who is also hurt. He plays good D. I am a Nick Young hater. He was money last night, but I wouldn't want my bet or paycheck dependent on him. He does seem to found som semblance of professionalism this year. He doesn't think he's just saved the planet now everytime he hits a contested 3. And he doesn't celebrate makes anymore before his shots go in. So ... kudos for that.

Again, I am inimpressed with the Warriors bench, but super impressed with how Steve Kerr carves roles and gets guys to play in their lanes. Nick Young has never ever played in his lane before this year. That is not to say he is good, but he is serviceable with 2 of 3 of Klay, Steph and KD out there as he is a great wide open shooter. Mostly.

Wouldn’t be any gymnastics. He’d be the GOAT. I’ve said he needed another championship and would probably end up as the GOAT through longevity anyway.

You fit the bench to the team. If you don't have superstars, you have to have a better bench.

You are also saying the bench of the Warriors are missing two of the most important bench players. How would Utah's bench look if Crowder and Burks weren't available?
