BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

Lorng isn't on the roster as just released. He apparently has some academic issues. He may not get to college until 2019, if at all.

The new coach will get to decide if his scholarship is still available then I suppose.

Right. If he stays off the roster then we could use a big. If he ends up on the roster, we don’t.

If you read some of the other posts about Lorng, his first US high school was apparently pretty small and not necessarily academically rigorous. Even a year at Hargrave may not have been enough to get Lorng academically qualified. There was speculation that he would need another year to get all of it straight.

In the meantime, he is one of 16 players invited to the French National U20 team. Who knows if he comes back to the US after that.

Anyone who chooses to go to Louisville, in its current state, is a fucking moron. Garbage school, garbage program. Zero upside.

Lathon is generally thought of as a Top 150 guy. No harm in grabbing Bey & Lathon if they are interested. We have the ships and we need the bodies.

In terms of another big... I don't think it matters if Lorng makes the roster or not. If we could somehow get a big that could help this season, you do it. Lorng isn't going to help this year whether he's on the roster or not.

I get that you don't want a GIANT class, but you also don't want unused scholarships. As we've seen... Players will leave the program. If we fire Manning after the season, the new coach will not be hamstrung by a lack of scholarships... Players will leave.

Lathon might start for us if he came here and people are posting that we shouldn't be trying to get him?

I don't think I've seen anyone post that we couldn't use him. Folks are trying to understand why we'd be going after a player who just had his scholarship revoked, without explanation, other than to say it wasn't academics.

And that it’s a bad sign that we are after a player who could start for us at this point but we won’t get him because no legit PG would expect to start over Childress.

More likely, we won't get him because there are at least a dozen other schools trying to land him (including Louisville).

I'm sure we won't get him because dumpster fire, but Childress and Craw were going to play a ton of minutes together this year. Nobody knows how ready Mucius is or how Brown will handle guard pressure handling the ball at the 2. Lathon is 6'4" and has a bunch of highlights dunking home alley-oops.

Chill/Lathon/Brown/Hoard/Sarr might be a better lineup than anything else we could put on the floor. Kid is 100+ spots above the complete wildcards of Wright and Lewis, neither of whom are true point guards. Then again that team would have to win games by playing defense, not sure that would work out...

Obviously dude's not worried about any potential rules regarding other ACC schools.

If he gets academically cleared by signing day, it will be Danny Manning deciding. Remember fall signing period for 2019 is November 14 - 21, 2018. Who do you expect to be coaching Wake BB then?

Spring signing period ended May 15. Hargrave graduation was May 13.
