Bullshit Trump Says

Stewart was the best, there is no doubt. I watch Maher and Oliver every week, and enjoy both. All three of those shows were great for different reasons. Stewart covered news of the day, and had decent interviews. Maher gets great, and important guests, and his show is very funny. As catamount mentioned, Oliver's show does an awesome job of focusing on specific issues.

I think the far left hate of Maher because he attacks Islam a fraction of the amount he mocks Christianity is totally overblown and stupid. Let's fight the real enemy, not comedians.

Yeah, I religiously watched TDS with Stewart and the Colbert Report back to back. Now I just youtube clips of interviews I want to see on Colbert - don't watch it otherwise. I've enjoyed the 2 stand-up routines I've seen of Noah's, but he's a terrible interviewer, and I agree with dtr that his takes are overly superficial. TDS is just a bad venue for his talents. I love Oliver's show and would encourage folks to check out Jim Jefferies show on Comedy Central on Tue nights. It's almost as good as Oliver. As for Maher, I like him as a stand-up. And last night I watched his opening jokes and his interview of George Will. But I just won't watch his panel of Hollywood and cable news types because it's more superficial than Noah's takes on American politics.

I guess you’ve got to start grilling today to have well done steaks tomorrow.

This is what Trumpists don't get about those who are vehemently against the Trump movement. Between the moral depravity and the constant lying...we don't trust a word that comes out of this administration. There is spin and then there is lying. I can take the spin. I can't take the lying. Do you think the American people are dumb?

Are Republicans finally growing a pair? I'm not holding my breath but I'll take it right now.

I'm glad that they actually felt "disgusted", and I heard that there were some muted boos. But - they were muted, and I'll believe that congressional Republicans are turning on Trump when I actually see it. If anything, Sanford's surprise defeat in the primary by an avid Trump supporter will just make Republicans even more fearful of taking on Trump, or even publicly criticizing him. I think many, if not most, congressional Republicans have been privately disgusted, or at least disturbed, by Trump and his behavior (and the behavior of many of his cronies) for a long while. They just don't have the will or the guts to simply stand up and say it, or do something about it. The few who have, like Sanford, have either lost their next election, or, like Flake and Corker, just decided to call it quits and retire rather than fight. Trump owns the GOP right now. He knows it, and they know it.

Exactly, Trump’s normalization of bald faced lying is one of the most destructive things you could do to our democracy.

And it’s couched in the “all politicians lie” whataboutism.

Isn't it strange to know that there are those out there (about 30%) who genuinely think that people will look back, 30, 50, 100 years from now, re-read Trump's words and think "Wow, what a visionary. A true hero. He painted the picture of what America should be." A few apparently post on these boards.

All it takes is one nuke to get detonated on our soil and 80% of the people will look back and think he was a visionary. Eventually terrorism will happen again and eventually people will trend towards his xenophobia. Sadly read an article recently about how easy it would be for a Hiroshima type bomb to be created by a handful of scientists and smuggled in.

If there is a nuke launched under the current administration, I would sincerely hope that absolutely no one would praise the one chiefly responsible.

If we were to go to war, I'd probably rather have a Republican in office than a Democrat in the early going. But there is no way I'm letting the person who fulfilled his own prophecy by alienating allies and antagonizing enemies off the hook.

Just go back to 9/11. W was praised for being on the watch.

I don't think a nuke will get launched, because then it's easy to see from where it was launched. It'd be a suitcase nuke from some fringe organization.

Why would you rather have a Republican in office in the early going? The last time that happened the Republican in office used the fear the attack generated to invade a country that took no part in the attack. That War killed hundreds of thousands, destabilized the region, weakened the US and strengthened our rivals.
