It all goes back to the Zero-Sum mindset that has been ingrained into Pubs for decades. It can't be that Kaep is protesting for equal rights without taking rights away from others.

But that’s the thing. Republicans’ concept of their rights are derived from depriving rights to others. That’s when America was great to them.

This. Freedom to Republicans means the freedom to have dominion/power over "others" they deem as less than, whether because of race, social status/class, etc. Providing equal rights to those "others" impinges on their version of freedom.
