Wake Forest Football Recruiting

All of the football recruits and their families were at Fratelli's tonight. Hope all goes well!!

Miles Fox ODU grad transfer DT just committed to wake per Les. Highly recommend his site it is worth the money. 6-1 292 I think.

Really hard to find solid interior D-lineman. Would like to see WF bring in a grad transfer there for depth and in case of injury, but it's not like they are easily available.

Any other wishes while you’re at it?

Wish granted. DT Miles Fox will be arriving at WFU early in 2019 to begin grad school, per Les. He is finishing up at ODU. He redshirted this past season for severe turf toe.

Miles or Les?
Pretty sure Les doesn't weigh 292.

Seriously, Miles Fox is a great addition and also sounds like a great fit into the current Wake team.
And remember, ODU beat VT this year.

A little? We only have 3 returning interior lineman. That means we’re 3.5 short. Either Cohen better haul some grad transfers in or switch to 3/4 next year because we have zero commits.

As I was saying:

Les Johns - BREAKING: The Deacs just got immediately better for 2019 with the addition of Old Dominion grad transfer DT Miles Fox. Fox: "I’m an extremely hard worker and I love making plays. It’s going to be a great season." Details here:

Peyton Woulard is mentioned by many of our commits. Must be studying Marketing. His new nickname is "The Closer"

Now, a grad linebacker...about 6'5 250 would be nice.

We are in solid shape at LB. 6 returning at Mike and Buck with Strnad, Taylor and Smenda playing at a high level and expected studs Burley and Monroe coming back from injury. Simpson not so sure about his level of play but he has experience. We have 2 committed at LB in Jones and Hudson. Rover is much less of a known with Ja'Quez Williams the only listed Rover returning. We have had both former LB's (Hunter Williams) and former safeties (Kemp) man that position and it seems more likely that it will be a safety backing Williams next year, possibly Masterson or Greer. Greer was playing Rover when he got the pick six on Jones in the Duke game and Masterson played Buck LB for us. I have Zach Ranson, who is listed as an athlete, slotted to play Rover so we'll see how he pans out and if he's ready to play early. He was described as a safety/LB defensive athlete and at 6' 3" and 205lbs in high school, definitely has enough size. He plays WR and SS so should have plenty of speed and coverage skills for the Rover also.

Cornelius Brown, who Wake was interested in but did not offer, just committed to Georgia State. This in itself is not worthy of a mention, until you realize that he had offers from Alabama and Vanderbilt, yet still committed to Georgia State. College Football recruiting will never not be entertaining. I fully understand the allure of playing time and having a relationship with the coaching staff, but that one is still a big huh?

I really think that after J. Williams, if we keep the Rover position, it will be very fluid.

Masterson, C. Davis, Greer, and Hardimon sliding over there depending on down and distance.

If the injured LBs come back and solidify themselves as back ups to BUCK and MIKE, I can see DJ Taylor sliding over to Rover as he is one of our most athletic LBs.

Clawson mentioned in a post-game interview this season that they were working on moving Redd to the Rover position. Masterson also looks like he has the skills to play it.

I hope we get to see Burley and Monroe on the field this year. Both have had really rough injuries at Wake.

Sam Snyder, a TE who Wake offered this fall and ultimately chose Looserville, has since decommitted. Stay tuned. Or not, either way Les will tell us within the day whether the staff is interested in adding another TE.
