The new thing to do is turn them all around so that the pages are facing out. It looks like a cool corkboard pattern or something. So hip.

I'm pretty sure this library is going to do away with almost all of its books within the next year, and just keep a small "Popular Reading" section, as well as course reserves/textbooks. Nothing's been announced, I just wouldn't be surprised. Gotta have more room for people to collaborate and inspire and envision and create and print and check out lap top chargers.

And by teach, I mean its featured in the 3rd episode of America the Story of Us, which covers westward expansion. Which is what I taught last week. This episode is a great way to summarize the mini-unit and to let me peacefully recover from eating too many chicken wings and drinking too many beers yesterday.

Is there any truth to my theory that Denver was started by people who after crossing the Great Plains took one look at the Rocky Mountains and said nah?

Not exactly what you're looking for, but the Netflix show Babylon Berlin is a pretty sweet, high-budget German show about the social and political forces at hand during the rise of Nazism, the spread of Communism, and the end of the Weimar Republic, set against the backdrop of the cultural explosion of 20s Berlin around sexuality, feminism, etc. as it leads up to WWII.

Really good stuff.
