Official 2018-19 NBA Season Thread - NBA Finals Raptors Win #WeTheNorth

NBA has the most confusing rules to track.

How does buyout work with luxury tax? Houston is literally dumping players and buying players out to get under the luxury tax but then can turn around after the deadline and spend money on the buyout market.

Am I missing something? If Im not its kind of brilliant

Grizz get a couple of young players with options (RFA - Wright, player Option - JV) and move a player that likely wasnt sticking around this offseason. Have to remember that Grizzlies owe Boston a 1st round pick over the next 3 years (Top 8 rest 2019, top 6 2020 and unrestricted 2020). It's been hanging over the franchise for a while and I think they decided to go after younger players with flexibility, but good enough to finish out this year and finish outside the bottom 8 so they can convey the pick and be done with it.

Gasol has a $25.5 million player option for next year, there is no way he opts out. And the Hornets reportedly had made an offer of MKG + Biyombo + a protected 1st .

Honestly dont think the Grizzlies wanted him to opt in and stick around next year. Time to transition to JJJ as the frontcourt centerpiece and that was going to be impossible with Gasol around. Tuesday night without him JJJ went for 23 including 4-7 from 3 and 7-10 from FT. You just can't get that kind of usage from him with Gasol around. And the team was playing a much slower pace mainly because of Gasol. He's also a little moody and always trying to play perfect basketball, which is a tough attitude around developing young guys. Happy for him in Toronto, he will be great up there and I expect 100% engaged.

If the first pick is unprotected, it looks like a decent trade.

Zubac and Beasley to Clippers for Muscala.

Avery Bradley to Memphis for Jamychal Green and Garrett Temple.

The second round pick looks like it will be Cleveland's this year.

Process has made them a favorite to make the NBA Finals, not sure how that qualifies as a shit show.

Nobody with half a brain would favor them to make the Finals over the Bucks.

And 2 draft picks have gotten them to where they are, which is currently 5th place in the East with one playoff series win since it started. Along the way to said mediocrity they have completely wasted significantly more high value picks.

Sixers must be a lock if 2&2 is saying this.
