2018-19 College Basketball Season-Long Thread

Didn't Brendan Haywood make a somewhat last second shot in that game? I remember UNC stormed the court which I made fun of all my Heel friends for.

Reports are Zion has an $8 million dollar injury insurance policy.

That sounds like a combo plan that includes "slot insurance". The general policies are usually for less. He's one of the few people that the very expensive slot insurance makes some sense. This protects falling in the draft due to injury.

The regular policy is very tough to enforce for the player. It has to be a catastrophic injury that precludes the player from playing pro anywhere.

You missed the "jumping and landing" part of that post. Peppers and Zion are about the same height and size, but Zion jumps higher.

I didn't miss anything. I just liked "vertically gifted". The context I was referring to was the rest of your post.

Both Zion and Peppers are 10/10 on the athlete scale, but I agree that with jumping Zion is a 10+ and Peppers is probably only a 9. It's also a different sport.

Zion is already a monster, 30-40 pounds lighter I think he'd be a transcendent Bo Jackson type athlete.

Right. Zion has more to worry about knee issues going forward.

That Curry to Peppers clip definitely brought back bad memories. That was a very emotional game. I always call that the "Boom" game. Odom did the right thing calling a timeout to curb the momentum, but it didn't work. They replayed that dunk during the timeout and the crowd yelled "Boom!" every time they saw the dunk. You can kind of hear it in the background of the clip. That timeout felt like it was 10 minutes. The game stayed close but the momentum shifted there.

And Duke paid $50,000 for it. No wonder they are signing the top 5 players every class. That, plus their Nike guaranteed contract plan, explains their huge recruiting advantage over everyone for the past 3-4 years.

Yes, and I brought that up before when Dortch declared and someone said it would be an impermissible benefit. Apparently not: https://www.foxbusiness.com/persona...urance-policy-against-pre-nba-injuries-report

Wake Forest should offer this to top players. ISI is located in Winston-Salem, not too far from campus off Stratford Road.

As I understand it, most of these insurance policies are for loss of value and require a threshold to be met. In Zion's case he'd have to drop like outside the top 15 to ever see any money from that.

I just wonder if they write them for non-top 15 picks. Like Dortch can be insured against the loss of losing out on being a 3rd round pick? Or can Hoard insure himself if he's not a top 25 pick next season? What do they use to determine players who aren't obvious lottery picks like Zion's probable draft value? ESPN mock drafts?

UCF has 15 turnovers in the first half at Cincy. Cronin sure can coach defense and he has the athletes to effectuate it. Maybe we should send whoever is coaching our team to Cincy for defensive tutelage.

uncg down four with two minutes to go at home against Western Carolina
