2. (Unrelated to you IMR) just pony up 10 bucks for the subscription to Les’ site rather than sharing what’s behind the paywall. Dude works tirelessly for Wake and he’s one of two good reporters we have solely covering the Deacs.
 
I love the notion that they're waiting until later in the week to "bury" the story. Like anyone gives a fuck about Wake Forest basketball right now. It would be a two-second update on sports highlight shows and a blurb on chyrons. There's no story.
 
If Manning is retained, a sky banner above the spring game would seem appropriate.

Rumors that the $18 million is closer to reality than many want to believe, but I don't see how one more year of salary is going to change that equation much anyway, especially not in comparison to the revolt and lost revenue that would result from keeping Manning in place.
 
why don't they just fire him and figure out the money later? it's not like we can't scrounge it up somewhere.
 
Yeah, if the buyout is large enough to keep Manning around for another year, then Wellman doesn't deserve any kind of farewell tour. He needs to be publicly admonished and then sent home immediately. There was ZERO reason to sign Manning to an extension that would handcuff the basketball program. You want to add some years after making the NCAAs? Sure. I could see how that might help w/ recruiting. But making it impossible to fire the guy 2 years after signing the extension? WTF? Defies all logic.

If he comes back for another season, you won't see me around here much. I'll be devoting a lot more of my fandom to UF, where those in charge at least act like they give a shit.

If DM is retained then it might be time for the largest gathering of fans to make an appearance at Ron's office, Danny's office....wherever. When they walk out to their car, their very very very nice car, they should have to walk through that angry crowd to get to their car. Something should to be done that is loud and visible. Billboards are one thing but they can drive past those. But make them face a crowd and be forced to answer questions from real fans rather than the media. Danny Manning as the head coach next season is 100% unacceptable. I'll rip the WF decals off of my truck and send the burnt remains of my WF gear to Ron. I will find another team. I'm done :slash:
