Manning Returning for 2019-2020 - b/c basketball decision, obvi

For the Optimistic Man, there are 3 possibilities:

1. Danny Manning is hired to be the new assistant big man coach for the Atlanta Hawks, with Arthur Blank himself personally negotiating(as has been rumored) a sweetheart deal in order to bring home Atlanta’s favorite son.

2. Bill Self is indicted and/or imprisoned and Kansas, looking to minimize the PR damage, hires Danny Manning to rescue the program.

3. Currie walks into the office on May 2, slaps his Bad Muthafucka wallet on the desk, throws Wellman’s nameplate in the trash, calls Manning into his office, and tells him there’s a new sheriff in town and to pack his shit and go.

Sadly, Arthur doesn’t own the hawks or have anything to do with them.

Anthony Ressler is the majority owner and Chairman. Grant Hill, Sara Blakely, Jesse Itzler, Jeff Price and Rick Schnall are minority partners.

P.S. The 4th option for the Optimistic Man is to turn the tables and go full blown Brasky/Donald Ross style “I’m not locked in here with you, you’re locked in here with me” and start pooping everywhere and leaving poops on car windshields and mailboxes and front porch rocking chairs.

See this is part of the reason this train of misery just keeps rolling...these type of long-term DC contributions should have been cut off after 15-20 years, or at least when condescending King Nothing decided he knew better than the entire base of fans and alumni who support your foolish endeavors that have done nothing but run our flagship program adrift. Hell, it done sank when it capsized last season with 7 (or was it 8, hard to keep track) players defecting at the same time. If nothing else, all monies should have been directed to other sports and everyone who truly cares about the future of Wake Hoops should have cut themselves off from season tickets. Not like getting a cheap, scalped has been hard to get since 2011. What's the definition of insanity?

I know this is a fun, running joke for you, and it is kinda cute, and enjoyable to hallucinate like this, but...

Will you at least get the name of the owner right? Tony Ressler. Blank gives no fucks about the Atlanta Hawks. He's too busy running a soccer team and overpaying players.
 
Reading the Associated Press article, it's just 'wow' how could anyone put another year in with that guy. The article says Wake has lost 20 games 6 times, Danny Manning owns 3 of those.

For those that say Wellman is not media savy. Releasing this on Friday morning of the NCAAT made sure it got as little exposure as possible.

Likelihood high. It would be awesome if Currie decided to can Manning on May 2 and install Nestor as the interim coach.
 
Ernie Nestor is 135-198 as a head coach and hasn't had a winning season as a head coach since the 1989-90 season.

And? F manning. If wake is going to suck at least naming someone interim with the understanding next year is a coaching search gives the fans enough excitement and enthusiasm to begin caring again. Work on the fan experience and make meaningful changes all around. The toxic environment would be in serious decline. Instead it's a nice goodbye from ronnie to the fans.

But he was an assistant at Wake for two of our great runs (1979-1985 and 1993-2001). Making him the interim, with no expectation that he would be hired permanently, would be way better than having Manning next year.
 
My Hope Is that they negotiated some sort of significant expectations for next year and the man is already agreed to a buyout if not achieved.

Also, to add:
Nestor had retired.
He actually came out of retirement to babysit Mannikin. I highly doubt he would want the job permanently; that's super unlikely. In fact, IMO, I'm not fully convinced he would even accept the job as an interim coach for next year.
