ETA: Buttigieg is kind of killing it right now.

So while the Bernie Bros are out trying to wreck other candidates, their boy is throwing straight heat claiming the Boston Marathon bomber should have the right to vote.

Enjoy running with that.

It's easy to pick a person least deserving of sympathy to attack the stance. It's a lot harder to stand for a democratic ideal, that is guaranteed by a lot of other nations, when it is not currently popular in mainstream politics.

It's an asinine stance to claim that depriving a mass murderer of their voting privilege is a "slippery slope."

Not when we currently incarcerate and disenfranchise more people than anyone in the world.

Yeah probably shouldn’t pick someone that 99.9999999 percent of people think should be in jail as your poster boy, the only one that pick appeals too is the crazies that think we need no jail at all, ohh look there’s a M&M.

The person asking the question brought him up.

I'm OK withholding the right to vote from those in prison if the right to vote is immediately reinstated upon their completion of sentence or release on parole. And I'd even be in favor of allowing those convicted of non-violent offenses with sentences under a certain threshold to keep their right to vote and exercise it while serving their sentence.

I think it is reasonable to withhold voting rights until you have completed your parole. At that point, they should be restored. You have served your sentence and should have full citizenship rights restored.

A Dem candidate put out a statement or an ad that says:

"Russia, if you are listening, if you make one tweet, one Facebook or Instagram post, steal one email or try to impact our election in any way, I will consider it an act of war against the United States of America. My first act as President will be to enact the widest, deepest and longest set of sanctions the world has ever seen.

America's elections are sacred. Stay away.

I am _____ and I approve this message."

This will cause Trump to lose his shit and make all the other candidates echo this position and even extend it. Someone would likely say something like "Unlike President Trump, Rudy Giuliani, I consider it treason to ask for or accept help from Russia to be elected POTUS" or "Any attack or meddling in any American ally's election will be considered an act of war against the United States."

The Dems could put Trump on blast from today until the election.

That sounds like Tom Cotton's ridiculous letter to Iran.

yeah, i get the vibe but a dem candidate threatening war Russia is probably not going to go over that well with most democratic voters

That sounds like Tom Cotton's ridiculous letter to Iran.

The reason is vastly different is that Iran hadn't attacked our election.

Russia will amp up its endeavors until someone stands up to them. Having done some business with and worked on events with many ingrained Russians, they have said (and you can check other articles) the only thing Russians respond to is for people to stand up to them.

We can't cower in a corner. Additionally, this is a stance a lot of swing voters will like,

Most people who get out of jail are too busy committing new crimes to bother with registering to vote.

Problem with that is it virtually ensures that candidate will start the presidency in a Cold War or armed conflict.

Russia isn't stupid. There won't be any armed conflict. As to a Cold War, they are acting in that way already. The only way to get them to stop is to make it cost something to them.

Russia is trying to destabilize many EU elections and was involved in the Brexit vote. They are at war and they own our POTUS. It's time it cost them bigly. It's the only was Putin will stop or even cut back.
