He did give him his start in the biz.
As long as Currie follows his 5 point plan or however many it was in his press conference in March, we'll be better off. In that presser, where he seemed most animated (to me) was when he was talking about fan experience. This wasn't about the top donor experience, but the fan experience as well as creating a sports offering that the local area can become apart of. All this was music to my ears as, for me, this was Wellman's other great failure. Basketball, alumni/student/fan experience, and transparency. Facilities, fund raising, football, and next tier sports he mostly did right.
John Currie is going to do an excellent job at Wake Forest. He did a great job at Kansas State and has their major sports going strong. He was taking a lot of flack for hiring Bruce Weber as their coach back in 2012 and all he has done is go 150-89 overall with 5 NCAA berths. He hired a women's coach in 2014 who has gone 100-64 overall with 3 NCAA berths. We know their football coach has been Bill Snyder. Their baseball has been so-so recently but prior had 3 NCAA bids in the early 2010's. Personally I think we have us a great new A.D.
