2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

so, you don’t support Medicare for all, but some form of universal coverage. I’m glad we have established this.

However, when I say an easy plan will lead to universal care SOONER and more seamlessly, you are moved to say, "Boomers are the worst".

Are you this stupid? Or this much of a bigot?

You can answer without personal insults you fucking asshole! When you can't discuss something rationally go right to that tired trope.

But thanks for showing us you ignorance again. Medicare costs FAR less than private insurance. What do you think businesses will choose if they can buy a private policy for their staff that costs 20-35% more or a public option?

My bad, THINKING is wrong in your world.

My bad the REALITY of telling people their taxes are going to explode immediately won't impact voters. And showing them how they will save money and get more is a TERRIBLE idea.

Quit being so lazy and classless!

Incrementalism is a safe position when you already benefit fully from the welfare state

No. I support M4A along with any other form of universal coverage. This is the type of "or bust" language I'm talking about.

I said this for more than TEN years when I wasn't on Medicare. I've been saying it on threads every year since Obama was running. I didn't change anything because of that.

"Incrementalism" is baby steps. This would be a tectonic but manageable and understandable leap.

Do you actually think that most companies wouldn't immediately jump at the ability to say 20-30+% overnight on such a huge cost to them? Millions, and likely tens of millions would change during the first year. That's not incremental by any definition.

Your bigotry against boomers is absolutely not different than Trump's racism. It's out of hate, ignorance and laziness.

Ph, M4A and other forms of universal coverage represent different policy proposals.

Do you agree with this statement?

bigotry against boomers = Trump's racism, huh? bigotry against boomers? the worst generation.

Yes. All have their strengths and weaknesses and none in their purist form as of right now will pass. Let's get everybody on board and get them elected and work out the details in 2021.

Your blind, ignorant, constant hatred is no different than Trump's words against Mexicans or Muslims. He hates their religion and the color of their skin. You hate because of someone's age. It's exactly the same.

A matter of proof is your attack on my supporting that because I am on Medicare rather than I supported it for over a decade BEFORE I was on Medicare. Lazy and ignorant, just like Trump.

It's just like Trump to want things your way or start the insults rather than looking at the reality of a position.

You are LW Trump. Maybe someday you'll change, but you haven't in the years you have been posting here.

Okay, so it's possible to embrace one and not the other? (The rest of your post is a lot like ChrisL's electability canard.)

Sure as long as you don’t think there’s only one way.

There are multiple ways to expand access to healthcare. There is basically one M4A policy. There are other policies that aim to expand access to healthcare in the United States. Some even purport to be universal (though I find them intentionally vague when it comes to implementation).

I support M4A first and foremost because it represents my politics on healthcare access. Obviously, I'll settle for less if it comes to that, but I am going to fight for M4A and when the time comes I'll hold my nose and support whatever the most pragmatic option is. I'm just not willing to do that now, over a year before the 2020 election.

You probably should not take the LSAT anytime soon, RJ.

Would you rather have Trump win in 2020 rather than moving tens of millions of people towards universal healthcare and making your desire easier.

Being a bigot against people who are old is absolutely no different than being a bigot against people because of the color of their skin.

I know you like to rationalize it, but that's reality.

You are also showing Trumpian influences when you are shown to be wrong and not be able to admit you are wrong. Your inane, inaccurate and intentionally bigoted statement that I only support this because I am already on Medicare is a perfect example. You couldn't be more wrong or more lazy or showing your bigotry more clearly.

I have a written history showing you are wrong, but you are so Trumpian that you can't admit you were on the facts and wrong on the moral, personal insult.

I hope one day you'll understand that apologizing when you are wrong and falsely insulting someone is wrong and immoral.

No, I’m saying that it’s easy to have shitty politics and hoard opportunities (e.g., Medicare) when you already have access to the benefit that the policy M4A advocates for...

Presumably, you like your health care benefit. Why not advocate for others to have access to it quickly? Why advocate for incrementalism? Honest questions.

Bigotry against the elderly? RJ, it’s too early to be this off the handle!

Sure as long as you don’t think there’s only one way.

I love how your whole line of argument here was just to pin me on some bullshit “Bernie or bust” myth. Glad to know I’m able to pick what i think is the best policy and advocate for it. Are you going to apologize for the accusation that i don’t care about healthcare justice?

DSA chapters have been campaigning for Medicare for All outside of Bernie’s electoral hopes for 2 years. Several DSA chapters have also worked on Medicaid expansion campaigns. We will likely be campaigning for Medicare for All after the 2020 election and organizing power to retain the key parts of the plan that are instrumental to health justice.
