2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

Warren can win but I would take that one poll showing her up at 11 in iowa with a huge grain of salt based on its methodology

It’s not just the polling but the number of people she has put together focusing on the caucus style. She has a massive grassroots campaign there.

Yep. I don't think Biden's style is going to get people to go out and caucus for him. Whoever wins Iowa is going to get a huge "electa bility" boost.

She’s running a hell of a campaign. You might not realize it if you’re connected to an IV of cable news, but she’s definitely got an edge in the first few states on the schedule. Plus, she’s going to get a lot of Sanders and Harris supporters when the time comes.

For all of Shoo’s worry about Sanders, I’m actually more worried that Buttigieg is going to overstay his welcome. He genuinely believes, for better or for worse, that he’s a contender.

The two biggest unknowns at this point in the primary are: 1) to what degree Biden continues to lose support from being the front runner and “most likely to beat Donald” status as his own gaffes add up and 2) how the progressive wing supporting Bernie and Warren coalesce (or don’t) when one becomes the more obvious choice. This latter point is particularly in question if Warren emerges due to how Bernie supporters didn’t fully jump on board last election.

Biden has had the issue that even at his most popular his numbers barely topped the combined support from the progressive wing for Bernie and Warren. I’d guess those who support one are more likely to support the other than an establishment moderate like Biden. This becomes even more important if nobody wins a majority before the convention. If Bernie/Warren also pick up a Pete endorsement I think that’s all she wrote for Biden. Hard to imagine those who are still on the Kamala bandwagon jumping to Biden (even if they have similar views) after she drew major blood on the busing issue.

Whether or not you think it’s funny it is obviously racist. That’s why Brad posted it.

What if I said that you really scalped the competition in a 9L moot court setting ? Would that be racist ? Keeping in mind that you're assumedly not of Native American descent and some Native American tribes took scalps, likely at a much higher rate than the European settlers, and often at the urging of the prevailing Colonial or American government.

Buttigieg stands to gain the most recognition from the condensed debates, IMO. Having all the big hitters on stage at once with much less distraction from Tier 3 candidates trying to make a splash, I think his particular brand of “what are we actually doing here, what’s the point of all of this” will come across much more clearly. At worst, he’s going to show that he’s basically the top draft pick for VP.

I think Pete is as legitimate a candidate as Kamala. I also don’t think either have a chance to beat all of Bernie Warren or Biden.

Yeah I would personally love a Warren/Pete ticket but I think Warren would pick a person of color (Castro makes the most sense ideologically but I could see her leaning towards Harris)

No he doesn’t. This primary really doesn’t have space for what I think Pete wants to do. It’s either all progressive or no progressive, not some of both. But given the platform, I think Buttigieg can get some solid momentum and support for the structural changes he has recognized as necessary to get our government back to actually functioning.

The primary is some progressive, all progressive, or "fuck you, you're not progressive enough, BERNIE OR BUST!!!!!!11111" Everyone on the stage is left of where Obama was in 2008.

Pete is going for a snowball effect. Finish 2nd or 3rd in Iowa and become a serious contender to boost name recognition for the next few contests.

What’s wrong with running a campaign in August 2019? Where is the lie?

Warren is smart and is actually running a campaign. She’ll come up with a hell of a rebuttal. She has done a great job so far.

I'm just tired of Bernie (or his handlers) going negative. Warren has been a registered democrat for 23 years, and voted for only one Republican in her life for President. No reason for Bernie to sic his people on her over something this dumb -- she should not have to waste her time (and likely won't) rebutting this BS.

And this has more to do with how obnoxious and destructive he and his bros and broettes will be as he continues an unwanted stay in the campaign long after his sell-by date.

i made this helpful chart for brad's joke

Imagine being mad at something Susan fucking Surandon said. Its like being mad at Kathy Griffin.

It's not fucking racist. You're ruining racism, dude.

a person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another.

There is no indication in the post that evidences superiority. Racist doesn't mean, "he referred to race." Hell, he only implicitly did so.

FUCK. Just...man, your mentality can only lead to a world where we are racially divided. If you keep trying to manufacture a race mountain out of every flat piece of ground, you'll eventually get good enough at it that you'll infect someone with your bullshit.

Warren has been a Democrat longer than Bernie has.
