Retired US Soccer / World Cup Thread (RIP)

I don’t think we should be playing a possession system anyway with our skill set but hiring a guy who’s only coached in the MLS, where midfield play is completely nonexistent, to implement it is flat out stupid and everyone involved should be banned for life from soccer

Not surprising but we look much better when given plenty of time on the ball. Not so much when our back line is pressured early. Happy with the runs we're making, especially Morris and Sargent. Dest looks great going forward but slow to recover defensively.

Damn that definitely should have been a penalty on a Jimenez right before the halftime, no call.

Regardless we've looked a lot better tonight, against a similarly A/B Uruguay squad. Probably because they're sitting back and not pressing much, and for the most part are conceding possession.

I don't mind us trying to play this way against teams who want to sit back, but there has to be a Plan B for teams like Mexico who are going to press the shit out of us.

That's about right. No one fouls on the counter and Aaron Long gets embarrassed.

Doesn't help when your small, slow DM is nowhere to be found. A Tyler Adams type cleans that up and slows down the break, either with a tackle or a foul. But these finesse DMs that Berhalter prefers are nowhere to be found. That weakness of his system is even more concerning to me than passing out of the back. We are absolutely exposed in transition because our #6 can't break up play.

What should give everyone a sense of calm. We're paying the men much more than the women,so we know what we're doing.

Berhalter coached for two years in Sweden.

No CL start for Pulisic after not starting this weekend in EPL match. Ugh.

Tyler Adams still out injured and not on gameday roster for RB Leipzig.

Dest in the starting 11 for Ajax against Lille. Weah still out (for a while, I'm guessing) with injury for Lille.

I dunno why I'm posting Dest updates since the look on his face when he walked off against Uruguay looked like a guy never suiting up for the US of A again.
