Elon is 2-1 with a win over... Citadel (35-28) who just beat GT. Elon also beat Richmond and lost to NC A&T.

Elon's QB is Davis Cheek from Butler HS in Matthews, NC. Cheek has had a solid start to 2019 with 7 TD and no picks. Elon has been mediocre running the ball (3.7 ypc). On defense, the Fighting Phoenix play a 3-3-5 scheme; their rush D has been solid holding teams to 3.1 ypc. Their weakness on defense has been against the pass where they have given up almost 10 yards per attempt. Elon does have a KO return for a TD already. They have a new HC this year in Tony Triscani. He had been the Phoenix DC. Their DL coach, Seth Payne, was a grad assistant (DL) at WF from 2015-7 under Clawson and Mike Elko.

Sagarin has Elon ranked #142 just behind Rice (#140) and Charlotte (#141). WF is rated #40 by Sag. No line on the game yet, guessing it will be in the high 20s or low 30s.

We can't take Elon lightly, our guys need to be ready and go out and take care of business.

It's the last potential trap game on the schedule. Hope for a healthy game. Could give a shit how much we win by.

If all goes to plan we can use this game to our advantage for many reasons as this is a well-placed game in our schedule (other than another win, 4-0).
1) Rest established players that may be ailing (Greer and Davis had hammys (??), Hinton, and Carney).
2) Have yet to be established, on the cusp players, solid reps (Zion Keith, Rucker). Those were the guys who were in when we gave up big passing plays to UNC while Davis and Greer were saddled with injuries.
3) Get T. Williams (emphasis), Monroe, Burley, Allen, McKinney/Delaney, Waydale, and Jaquarii good reps.
4) Gear up for BC

***After seeing so many P5s struggle with FCS/G5 teams, I'm slightly worried about it being a closer "game" to do this***

If anyone is looking to find a home for 4 Hill tickets, hit me up.

They play a 3-3-5 and are still weak against the pass? Yikes. We really should roll them.

DBs can't cover forever and if the three down linemen aren't getting much pressure on the opposing QB, passing will be effective.

Depth chart:

- No Hinton
- Cade is listed (was listed last week too)
- Tyler Williams back (2nd string DT); Kamara shifts to 2nd string NT

I think if Tyler Williams ready to go, getting him some snaps this week would be good since he hasn't seen the field at all this year. Carney and Hinton I think I'd give another week, both are unfortunately injury prone.

Elon is going to have serious trouble stopping our pass game. I'd imagine we have a similar game plan to UNC with an emphasis on the run and getting the ball to our tall outside receivers on back shoulder passes and deep bombs. Without Hinton in the slot due to injury it seems we largely eschewed the option to hit quick bubble screens or slants in favor of increasing the number of RPO calls and the number of targets to the outside.

Wake should be up 17-20 at halftime and cruise through the second half. Something like 37-10 or 37-14 feels right. Elon compares similarly to Rice and we get this one at home. I don't think Elon has a two touchdown answer to Wake going up 14-0 early but regardless, the game should play out about the same score wise.

Elon is ranked #22 among FCS Teams

I agree that Wake should beat Elon but note that they are ranked #22 among FCS (or 1AA) teams. They will not be a pushover.

By comparison, VT barely beat #15 Furman last week. There are a lot of teams worse than Elon.

Yeah I think Elon Furman and Rice are all in the same echelon. Not a pushover where Wake should win by 40+ but also a game that Wake should handle pretty easily at home.

This is some LOWF shit here, guys. Elon lost to NC A&T. The same NC A&T team that lost to Duke 45-13. We beat Duke 59-7 last year. If we win by less than 84, I will be disappointed.

But for real, we should absolutely crush them.

Is there a Fox Sports Net channel in the Directv Choice package? It's listed on a bunch of channels, but best I can tell all are part of an add-on package.
