What kind of odds could you have gotten 10 years ago as Ish was finishing his Wake career that he would be playing, never mind starting in the NBA a decade hence.

It may be his second time around with the Washington Wizards, but Ish is once again projected as the starter while John Wall (out all season) and Isiah Thomas (out 6-8 weeks) rehab from injuries.

His NBA career is a tribute to his hard work, tenacity and taking advantage of opportunities as they arise. I believe this is his 11th team, so he has played for over 1/3 of the teams in the NBA. Nice writeup here about how Wizards will be OK with Ish as starting point guard to open the season.

Ish shot 76% on free throws last season- not too bad for one of the worst free throw shooters in ACC history (he once shot 29% for an entire year at Wake.)

Ish put in a lot and I mean a LOT of hard work to make himself into a guy who NBA teams want to have on their team.

He should make a good coach someday because he made himself into an NBA talent. He wasn't born with great basketball talent, but parlayed what he had into a very substantial career. Guys who have to work generally are better coaches than those born more gifted.

this is indeed Ish's 11th team - the record for most franchises played for is 12, shared by 4 former players (3 of whom played in the ACC)

Ish's current contract will take him to $36 million in NBA earnings; not too shabby!

Kudos to Ish! Then again, a sign that it will be a long season for the Wizards.

I remember watching him at summer League before he showed up on campus. I was blown away by his speed. Such a nice dude too.

Ish may get a shot at tying that record next year. Wiz should get Thomas back later this season and Wall back for the 20-21 season so Ish may be sent on his way again. Watch this space late in the NBA season for teams that could use a good veteran point guard next season.

Ish's speed just puts a lot of pressure on opposing defenses. He can go from ball out of bounds under his own basket to layup at the other end of the court in under 3 seconds.
