NC State Game Time - Noon ESPN

The best thing about our wide receiver corps is that they get to watch how Sage, Scotty, Kendall, and Jack prepare, honestly.

Sage in particular. I have read a few stories in regards to his preparation and his summer workouts. I honestly don't expect Sage to be playing for a free education next year, so that means all four spots are available next season - that is huge. Usually, the more talented players emerge and earn the spots, but few expected Sage to make the jump he has from redshirt year (in which he didn't play a snap - if memory serves - due to the redshirt year then), his frosh season which included huge games against inferior opponents and okay games against good ones, and then this year. As a 3-star recruit as well. If that doesn't provide a pretty easy blueprint for any and all of our 4 and 3-star receivers, then they aren't paying enough attention.

And that is not to take away from our other starting receivers stories either. They've all put in the work. I expect all to be in NFL camps next summer save Jack. I could easily see Scotty and Sage on an NFL roster next year with Kendall on a practice squad.

And jumping ahead to next year, I'd also expect a wide receiver rotation by series, sort of how we do running backs.

Kendall, bro

though rhyming Kendall Hinton with Kevin Swinton will make a great Wake-centric lyric someday

Anyone thinking that if Newman loses his top 4 (5?) targets after this year, he's definitely gone? Assuming he gets at least at least a somewhat decent draft grade.

I'm really hoping Newman, Sage, and Chazz (yes, UNC, I know but they're all tight) all make some sort of plan to come back next year, graduate, and tear it up in the pros at the same time.

Chazz fell off draftboards after getting trucked by Newman and losing his helmet

I don’t see Newman getting a good enough draft grade after this year to leave to be honest. I think with another season under his belt with more national focus he can get there but I also believe that despite his talents he is heavily benefiting from a specific offensive style with a great receiving corps.

Not a knock on Newman just my two cents on where he currently sits objectively.

On the other hand I believe Sage is gone baby gone. He deserves it too. He’s gonna be a top 5 receiver taken IMO if teams are paying attention and he has a good combine/workout period.

If the Newman buzz continues, he needs to go. If he returns next season with hype, every throw or miss will be psychoanalysed more next season than it is right now. While scouts will certainly evaluate the film they have on him this year, there’s something about the QB position that has scouts look at every movement if they are a top 3 rounder projection.

I worry that the overrated laser timed 40 may hurt Sage. He has been caught from behind a few times this year. I think he is a 4.6-4.7 guy.

Just saw that Leary is competing <50% of his passes against primarily backups in garbage time. Sure he's made some nice throws and has 3 TDs vs zero INTs, but if we can avoid big plays, he doesn't seem like the type of QB that is going to consistently carve up the defense on short and mid-range passes.

Pressure will be key, and I hope we blitz him early and often. Specifically, the delayed QB spy blitz that ruined Howell in the first half against UNC would be ideal.

One benefit of our schedule is that including the bowl game, our freshmen can all make their four game debut in Death Valley - roll em out there!!

You're forgetting the ACC championship game, so we can't trot out the freshmen until the Duke game...

Trevor Lawrence stat's have been down since last year and his draft stock has not fallen.

Frankly, I doubt Newman is on any Pro's team radar and would be a late 2nd day pick (5-7th round)

Still looking for 3x tix, preferably West side, for Deac fans only. Also interested in a Blue Lot pass if someone has an extra. Please PM me!

Leary was rated the 9th best Pro-style QB in his class by Rivals. Sam Hartman was 31st.

I need 2. Would like to take 2 kids I mentor. Please PM me if you can help.

Newman would do well to wait until 2021 when the draft class won’t be as deep and Brady, Brees, and maybe Big Ben will likely be retired. Possibly Rivers and Cam too.

I can't imagine Chazz Surratt going pro after 13 games as a college linebacker.

I'm sure that's what NFL GMs and agents are thinking right this very minute.
