That's my main point. Ron Wellman being responsible for everything that is wrong at Wake Forest is the biggest strawman argument of them all.

The fact that he was able to do what he did to the basketball program over the last decade without any push back speaks to a huge problem with the school.

hahaha just keep on sighing you stooge. I have no conflict of conscience when it comes to my loathing of Wellman and the stooges in the "donor class" who have stood by idly and allowed these circumstances to take shape and suck us down into the abyss of irrelevance and anemic mediocrity. Hell, we are an insult to the word mediocrity since John Collins left and even then, we were a highly flawed team that did not improve at all defensively throughout the season.

But I digress, I've earned the right to have this opinion between my family's and my own personal investment in tuition, post-graduate support of the athletic program (countless games, road trips on account of my love of the Deacs) and there is no issue at all with reconciling my disdain for this current state of affairs and my eventual return to the fold, so to speak, should things ever turn around. I'm not going to be a complicit party to this continued malfeasance and lack of accountability in our AD. So you can take your "holier than thou" \ I'm a better fan schtick and cram it till it hurts buddy!

I'm pretty sure that Mike Buddie did most of the heavy lifting on the Clawson hire, which was kind of baffling in the first place.

So he hired a good football coach, or at least didn't fuck it up, yet he continued to retain a coach clearly in over his head for at least two seasons too many. So there is some degree of competence there (based on success of Wakes other non revenue teams too) which only makes his refusal to address this huge mistake even more maddening / egregious. Id almost rather have him be terrible across the board so we could blame that than his holier than though ego.

I was sitting in the football recruit section when he rolled in on the harley and a player asked me why people booed. When I explained the 17 YO said "oh, that makes a lot of sense".

Ron Wellman is only part of the problem. Nathan Hatch is also part of the problem. Neither are the real problem.

The real problem is you and the other Deacs that not only tolerate mediocrity but encourage those who have destroyed the program, razed it to the ground, and then salted the fields.

This problem only exists because there are enough people that matter who are okay with it.
