The 2019 College Football Thread ! LSU NATIONAL CHAMPIONS ! CLEMSON SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!

LSUs defense has zero answer for Clemson.

We’ll see! I’m really high on both teams. And I actually think this is one of the best OSU teams I’ve seen. Oklahoma is definitely on a different tier.

Probably why Drinkwitz is going to Missouri after less than a year at App.

Sorry meant to quote the App State shitty bowl comments.
It's a smart move by him. This is the peak for App right now and they are not likely to win 12 games again next year.

They hired well after Satterfield. I don’t doubt their ability to find the next guy.

I do think LSU will leapfrog OSU after handling UGA.

#1 seed is huge this year, both for venue and for matchup against a shitty #4 seed.

I'd be willing to bet a good amount of money this is not the case, unless LSU has a much more dominant performance, which is unlikely. The committee already pretty much said last night they're not going to penalize OSU for beating the same good team twice. What would Wisconsin be ranked if they didn't already have to play OSU once during the regular season? Similarly, what would UGA be ranked if they had already been trounced by LSU? In either scenario, they'd be separated probably by one or two spots in the polls.

I wish we had "bet a good amount of money."

Well LSU had a much more dominant performance, especially defensively, where they needed it most. While I still don’t agree with the decision (OSU lost a spot after beating 3 straight top 15 teams by double digits to end the year), it became pretty apparent it would happen. Can’t fault the committee much at all, as both teams had incredible seasons.

Yep. That’s what good programs do. You can argue about who would beat who in any given year but there’s no doubt in my mind that App is the best program in NC. They’ve gone from an FCS power to a ranked FBS team in a short about of time under three different coaches.

Now the staff has to plan for new coaches in the first two games.

Is there a team in the country more over rated year in and year out than Georgia? LSU absolutely curb stomped them and, while LSU is really good offensively, I don't know if they can stop Clemson from scoring 40+ points

The 2019 College Football Thread ! Substantive discussion ?

The SEC East is not great, but people convince themselves it’s better every year.

Great QBs just shred SEC defenses every time they end up in that conference. Georgia would probably be pretty good with Fields.

I have read your amusing comments. Not a fun day for fans of the #5 team in America.

Notre Dame owns that title.

I've gotten plenty of joy watching Georgia lose but I wouldn't say they've been overrated year in and year out during the Smart era.
2017 - made it to OT in the national championship game.
2018 - stupid fake punt call away from being in the playoff.
2019 - #5 is appropriate. Limitations on offense put them a decent step behind the 3 undefeated teams but they match up well with everyone else.

Kirby needs to decide what offense is going to look like at Georgia and it needs to look like something other than what it looked like this year. He meddled with play calling all year, which is why the Dawgs got so many delay of game penalties, including against USC. Losing both coordinators in the offseason is obviously a big deal. If you can win the national championship running the ball with Nick Chubb and Sony Michel on your team, it ain't happening. Of course that team also had five NFL draft picks at WR and TE, compared to this season with a bunch of pretty good guys and at 5-star head case freshman. And JJ Holloman was dismissed before the season. Cager having season ending surgery and Pickens getting suspended made the offense even more one dimensional. Even the punting was bad Saturday.

Sucks that thye lost th OL coach to Arkansas, but understandable that he's taking the job. Shitty that they're having to re-recruit 4-star OL now with no OL coach.

Jake needs to go out and start playing catch with Pickens every day.

Isn't Jake from State Fromm still going go to pro? Thought that was all but a certainty, but maybe his stock has fallen too much now?

I can't see him going pro if he can't hit an open receiver. He also doesn't work the middle of the field at all.
