Middle East: Saudis Murder & Dismember Washington Post Contributor

Should be an interesting test of Congress’ war powers. If an impeached president can drag us into a completely unnecessary war, Congress will have officially relinquished their power.

How bad is this? I don’t know much about this situation, but it seems bad.

I wouldn't be within a mile of Trump properties around the world over the next few months.

The big question is how many of them are over-insured just in case.

What would the US have done had someone targeted and killed Cheney or Powell?

In times like these everyone can feel reassured we have such a strong intelligent leader like Trump in the White House.

Per this article:

Suleimani took command of the Quds Force fifteen years ago, and in that time he has sought to reshape the Middle East in Iran’s favor, working as a power broker and as a military force: assassinating rivals, arming allies, and, for most of a decade, directing a network of militant groups that killed hundreds of Americans in Iraq.

So what's the argument against killing him, if Trump does it, it must be bad?

Because he's starting a war. This isn't some rando terrorist.

This dude has killed hundreds of americans and plotted assassinations on united states soil, and it was reported over 18 months ago that we agreed to let Isreal kill him if we found him. I suppose the definition of terrorist that we can kill and rando terrorist we can't kill without congressional approval should be a little better defined.

It’s pretty well defined. Rando terrorist? Yes. High ranking general of a foreign county? No.

If it were pretty clear, Dems would be screaming bloody murder rather than saying "it's good he's dead, but can he do that?"

Pelosi put out a statement about no one being told about it.

Granted it's still terrifying Trump's mindset "War with Iran will help me be elected", reading all the ominous analysis indicating Iran will certainly escalate things, and knowing Trump is an idiot and Republicans have no spine to tell him no.

Not really. That's a pretty rational reaction to the President unilaterally ordering an assassination of a really shitty person.

Not going to argue with PH for 5 hours over the definition of the word clear

However, after reading quite a bit, I think I found the best paragraphs. The reactions from the Ayatollah:

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that a “harsh retaliation is waiting” for the U.S.

Iranian state TV carried a statement by Khamenei also calling Soleimani “the international face of resistance.” Khamenei declared three days of public mourning for the general’s death.

Also, an adviser to Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani warned President Donald Trump of retaliation from Tehran. “Trump through his gamble has dragged the U.S. into the most dangerous situation in the region,” Hessameddin Ashena wrote on the social media app Telegram. “Whoever put his foot beyond the red line should be ready to face its consequences.”

Iranian state television later in a commentary called Trump’s order to kill Soleimani “the biggest miscalculation by the U.S.” in the years since World War II. “The people of the region will no longer allow Americans to stay," the TV said.

The airport strike also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy commander of Iran-backed militias in Iraq known as the Popular Mobilization Forces, and five others, including the PMF's airport protocol officer, Mohammed Reda, Iraqi officials said.

Trump was vacationing on his estate in Palm Beach, Florida, but sent out a tweet of an American flag.

The world’s #1 bad guy is someone maybe a few people here heard of before yesterday.

You really believe that?
