2019 NFL Season Thread Year 100. Superbowl LIV Winner: Kansas City Chiefs

Manning was not even that good in Super Bowl XLII:

19/34, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 2 fumbles, 4 rushing yards, sacked 3 times, offense only scored 17 points

he won by default

yeah the SB MVP just shows he played best(?) in one shitty game. NFL MVPs and All Pros actually demonstrate your abilities.

Which would you rather be, 2-time All-Pro or 2-time Super Bowl MVP? The lack of a lesser award doesn't diminish or offset the greater award. He won the most prestigious individual award in the sport, twice.

Weird. I don't remember Eli Manning ever winning the NFL MVP award...

An individual award for an entire season is infinitely more prestigious than an individual award for a single game.

In the 2007 playoffs he threw for 854 yards with 6 TDs and 1 Int.
In the 2011 playoffs he threw for 1219 yards with 9 TDs and 1 Int.

But you are right, one shitty game.

For comparison look at Tom Brady's Super Bowl years:
572/1/1
792/5/2
587/5/0
921/10/4
1137/7/3
953/2/3

Tom Brady sucks! One shitty game! He won by default!

Let's look at Aaron Rodgers' (1) SB year:
1094/9/2

Aaron Rodgers sucks! One shitty game! He won by default!

Let's look at Ben Roethlisburger's SB years:
803/7/3
692/3/1

Big Ben sucks! One shitty game! He won by default!

Not one of them had a playoff year as good as Eli in 2011, and Eli's 2007 playoffs beats most of their years as well. But right, he wasn't even that good.

You understand you just included more than one game into an argument about one game, right?

Which would you rather have, a regular season MVP or a Super Bowl MVP? Ask Matt Ryan, Cam, Adrian Peterson, Tomlinson which they would rather have. But your response is one I would expect from a Romo fan.

more deplorable stuff from the Saints

lol, 854 yards and 6 tuddies in 4 games is not HOF-level -- the offense didn't score more than 24 points all playoffs

your argument re: which would you rather have is irrelevant to HOF criteria -- Robert Horry may rather have six rings, doesn't mean he's gonna be a HOFer

I'd rather have a Super Bowl win than a regular season MVP individual title.

Romo won none of the above and has nothing to do with this conversation. You're cracking up because you know you're wrong.

It is damn sure HOF level in the playoffs and Super Bowl, I just gave you 3 HOF QBs with whom to compare it. Especially before all the recent passing rule changes.
Nobody is throwing for 500 yards against the Jets D in the Super Bowl.

If Horry was also 7th in career scoring and 7th in career assists when he retired to go along with his 6 rings he would absolutely be a HOFer.

No, I'm the one saying he is going to be in the HOF, which he will be. I'm not the one who is wrong.

Eli's other playoff years, four first game exits:

2005: 10/18, 0 TDs, 3 Ints, 1 fumble,
2006: 16/27, 2 TDs, 1 Int
2008: 15/29, 0 TDs, 2 Ints
2016: 23/44, 1 TD, 1 Int, 1 fumble
