DR is a Duke law grad. And what’s wrong with being a lawyer in a small southern town? Greensboro isn’t that small, btw. You sound a bit like Jim Boeheim.

I ain’t on any bench’s at bus stops. Maybe I should be. And I’m damn proud of my legal work in Greensboro but that’s not even one of my main professions. But whatever. Point if we are making stupid ass decisions based on stupids ass assumptions. Again.

And Rafi, what I denied is the additions you made to what actually occurred. I posted what actually occurred. If I somehow have a bad reputation in this community because of that, that’s a reflection on this community and the false assumptions misunderstandings created by bad work on our part. And boy do Wake alums do bad work. “The Joel is fine.” “We should hire the most PRIOR accomplished coach” (which remains Bob Knight).

There's four or five people who are going to decide who the next coach is. We're all just speculating. If those 4 or 5 people want an on campus arena, it'll happen. DR is apparently not in that decision tree. Too bad. I do think he is right.

Going after alums on here for who they think they want as coach is spitting in the wind.

Fortunately, our newish AD has been around the block the last 15 years and has a lot of relationships outside wake world. I think wellman was a fine AD - for about 15 years. When you dont move much outside your own cocoon for a long length of time, skew happens (not pointing fingers DR).

I am a big John Currie guy. You may recall I called for his hiring many times through the years. The scoffing came then too.

Wes Miller has been up since 5 working this morning. Danny Manning and his 50 million in NBA earnings is lazy, dumb, & predictably sleeping in again.

Proving my point once again. Bless you. Only lazy immature insular and tone deaf posters post factually incorrect dog whistles - like calling manning lazy. This is at least one of the reasons you are not in the room - reputation
 
We have gone way down a rabbit hole here. We should all be able to agree that what Wes has accomplished at UNCG is terrific and he absolutely warrants consideration for an ACC job. At this point it’s irrelevant whether or not that was the case 10, or even 6, years ago.

He is an obsessive grinder who won’t be outworked. He has a high basketball IQ and has developed a distinct philosophy and style of play. He lacks P6 recruiting experience but could hire a couple of veteran assistants to help with that. He would be a very promising hire.

The debate should be about whether he is a better hire than Beilein or Forbes. All have pluses and minuses. All would dramatically improve our program. Only 1 guy can get the job. Who do you want and why?

It's not irrelevant when determining the credibility of one of our loudest posters who has chosen that hill to die upon for some inexplicable reason.
 
But the thread is about coaching candidates, not DR’s credibility. We could have a separate thread for that. Can’t we stay focused on debating the possible coaches?

Wes has always been the ultimate grinder with the brains to match. Anyone halfway paying attention at Wake knew this 10 years ago. We had the inside info on that. Why didn’t we use it? Others have that info now and he’s a hot commodity. It’s too late to think he’d just take the job. We need unity. We need to beg.

Instead our alums are showing discord & silliness. That’s a real factor here for Wes and Currie. As modern cutting edge folks in this industry they are reading all of this. If I’m Miller, I read this junk about my family posted up here and, if I don’t get offered the UNC job, I head elsewhere.
