Official 2020 NBA Offseason - First Half Season Schedule Out

There have been several people in constant quarantine who have repeatedly tested negative who then test positive a week or two later, that is why it is generally a 2-week quarantine.

jaybone, I think they're pretty safe seeding the playoffs from today's standings. They got lucky in that respect. I'm fine if the Spurs run ends in another asterisk.

They tested 58 Jazz players and personnel and Mitchell was the only other positive test. So I guess that's a relief.

There is a period of time between infection an testing positive. And then another lag between positive test and overt symptoms. There is a lot of guess work on how long those periods are.

Also still learning how long before positive test and overt symptoms a person can infect others.

Me too. The only team that has an argument is the Pelicans. I am sure the NBA would prefer a Zion vs. Lebron first round matchup should the playoffs actually happen. I have a hunch they will be scheduled and then postponed and then cancelled.

But one alternative is for the Pelicans and Grizzlies to play a home and home series and the Pelicans gets the playoff spot if they win both. Lose either and it is Memphis'

Zion is definitely Tier 1 TV, but at least Ja isn't a big step down

Zion or Ja vs. Lebron is good TV. Zion vs. Ja in a series for the right to play Lebron would be fantastic TV too.

But that's silly because the Blazers, Pelicans, and Kings are all 3.5 games back and the Spurs are a half game back of them. Giving all of them a chance would be too complicated and unnecessary. Just make the Griz the #8 seed.

I would have the Nets and Magic play for the #7 seed since there's a half game between them.

I checked my spam folder and I got an email this morning from a Magic ticket rep asking if I was interested in a 2020-21 season ticket plan.

Not the time, Emily.

Gobert needs to have his work Visa revoked. He is pretty much singlehandedly responsible for American society about to domino to a halt. If there is anyone for Trump to easily and rightfully xenoblame, it is that dude.

On a Wake front, Hoard barely out scored Aminu this past week.

What a moronic statement!

I was talking this thru with a friend in my fabled fantasy league (which has been turned upside down).

And think about this - the NBA is obviously trying to figure a way to seed the playoffs with today's seeding and go forward with the playoffs in April. The only playoff spot arguably up for grabs is the #8 seed in the West and Memphis is a comfortable few games ahead of everyone. However, they had a tough schedule to finish the season and 538.com projected the Pelicans slipping in there and winning the #8 seed.

Anyway, the playoffs happening is totally contingent on nobody in the NBA getting infected between April 4th and April 18th (the scheduled start date of the playoffs) - that is a huge Fiing IF, is it not?

Fantasy wise, we are thinking about either taking the roster today and each player's averages over the last 30 days and playing that forward thru the last two weeks and then the playoffs. However, it is flawed because someone, say, holding Aaron Baynes is going to be effected weirdly, or what if you picked up Winslow for Memphis two days ago on the assumption he is going to start playing SF for Memphis ... We landed on taking the average totals of each team since the NBA trade-deadline - the last 5 or 6 weeks and running that against scheduled opponents, seeding the playoffs, and then comparing those same averages. For those teams with a lot of add/drops left (we have a max for the season of 80), give them a % boost against teams without all of the add/drops available ...

Don't bother. This isn't starting up again until we have a vaccine.

If they wait for a vaccine, this season is over. it won't be ready and tested for at least a year according to Dr. Fauci and those working on it.

Your math is slightly wrong - if they wait for a vaccine, the rest of this season and most of next season are off the table.

At some point, people are going to have to calm down and understand risk groups. If you are 60+, you simply cannot go to a live sporting event or concert until you are vaccinated - or until you contract the virus and survive it. If you have significant respiratory or heart conditions, ditto. 20 and 30-something athletes in peek physical condition need only worry about a shitty flu for a week or so. They simply are as likely to die from COV-19 as they are the regular flu.

I went to the grocery store at lunch today in Park Slope, Brooklyn and it was utter insanity. I waited in a line outside for 15 minutes just to get in the store, and then shopped wearing my winter gloves. I did a normal-ish shop plus some bags of frozen veggies and canned stuff I wouldn't normally get, but there were a number shoppers shopping as if The Walking Dead were crossing the Brooklyn Bridge and we had 45 minutes to shop before the lights go out ... forever.

Most people know they're not going to die. They just try not to not help kill about 10 million others.

I wasn't responding about next season. However, stating that it wouldn't be ready for at least a year does encompass most of next season.

BTW, Cuban mused about paying all the hourly workers last night. This morning he made it official. He will be fully paying all the Mavs and arena hourly workers until games are resumed. He's also talking about paying arena employees for all canceled events at the venue.

WTG, Cuban!
