2020 Democratic Presidential Primary

Almost all of the polling I've seen (and Ive seen a lot for obvious reasons) shows "M4All" tests great, until you tell people how it will work, at which point support drops a lot. M4All is great branding but not sure we can say people are fully behind the policy. Granted its a terribly complex idea and hard to convey in a simple exit poll.

My sense and professional judgment are people like a choice, ie public option, but dont want a true single payer system. Its interesting that people are now opting out of traditional Medicare and private medicare options funded by Medicare. I think this is the future of HC in the US as we see in both medicare, medicaid and the aca.

the people simply need the opportunity to lose their healthcare with their job

they crave it, they insist upon it

Decoupling health insurance from employer would be a tremendous boon to workers.

One way or another, we need to get there.

Fair concern.

Politics is frustrating and complex.

Thus it’s infuriating that politicians seem to have to publicly try and oversimplify everything.

You can fix this problem without M4A. Of course you know this.

With the bidding wars, hoarding, and just general fuckery that has occurred in the last 2-3 weeks I don't know how anyone can think that private health care is a good idea.

The reason will we be the global leaders in COVID cases and death is because of just how bad our system is.

Universal Health Care, kill all the parasitic insurance companies and HMOs, and start treating health care as a human right not a commodity.

I know the cable news watchers among us are drooling over Cuomo, but the governor who has handled this the best so far has to be Inslee, right?

Yes. Newsom is also worthless while doing the symbolic stuff that gets you on the news. Cable news kills brain cells and is creating left leaning rubes.

How is he worthless? All I've seen out of CA is that LA is that it's expected to be as bad as NYC in the next week or so.

He hasn't actually done anything. His strategy is to "let the counties decide" in lieu of exercising his power to enact, for example, an actual moratorium on non-payment related evictions. Y'all are falling for rhetoric.

ETA: and that eviction ban that he just enacted is neither a "ban" nor a moratorium. Before y'all go too nuts, Garcetti deserves to be in this group, too. He's not De Blasio bad, but he's been pretty awful.

We live on the other side of the country.

I honestly don't have an opinion of the job Newsom's done one way or the other. Way too busy judging my own governor and McMaster.

The original post was directed at Ph and others, who are fawning over Cuomo and Newsom.

Has there been some fawning over Cuomo and Newsom that I have missed?
