Shit chupe I couldn’t finish my neg rep comment: Allll the neg

Ha, sorry man. I deserve it for that, it's true. Just had to do something to cheer myself up a little.

i think you'd have to put several game films from DM's tenure at Wake would qualify as horror films.

Midsommar and The Descent both available for “free” on Amazon prime video, FYI.

Watched them both yesterday, inspired by the discussion here.

Both were fascinating enough. I liked Midsommar better.

Midsommar is definitely a better movie. Descent is just ok as a film. The practical effects are excellent.

Both of Aster’s features are objectively good films. Really smart and visually stunning.

I kinda think The Descent could have been a better film without the gollumesqe creatures. I mean, they are freaky and scary and facilitate quite nicely lots of typical horror movie thriller moments. But IMO they are sort of cheap thrills and detract from the more natural scariness of the cave exploration and the psychological drama between the characters.

i watched Parasite last night and that movie was awesome. Loved it.

Great point. Totally agree.

Also genreless but awesome (or terrible, depending on your taste) are Yorgos Lanthimos's films

The Lobster
Dogtooth
Killing of a Sacred Deer
The Favourite

All worth watching

The Favourite is my favorite movie of the last couple years. The Lobster was pretty great too. Need to watch Killing of a Sacred Deer at some point

Dogtooth is the most unsettling of the four I think? Followed by Killing of a Sacred Deer, which builds.

Also I told RTQ she looked like the girl from Dogtooth once (who I thought was kinda sneaky hot) and she got real mad at me. And it was the same day we sat next to each other at a Wake basketball game. Oops.

really enjoying this rj-free thread

thanks for setting it up, biff
