Creamy, any word on Jalen Johnson? I would expect his decision to come pretty soon after Williamson's.

Last I heard is it’s a done deal. Just dotting some I’s and crossing T’s with the transfer process. My guess is we hear something this week but all of that is a roundabout way of saying I’m not certain when he will make it public.

Great addition both in terms of talent and building the culture. Felt like we needed this one.

I believe the Daivien Williamson transfer is as important as the Mac McClung transfer would have been. McClung may have been more talented but Williamson brings more intangibles. He knows Forbes. He knows his philosophy and his expectations. As a player, he is the bridge between Forbes and the players and can separate the forest and the trees in the locker room. This is an enormous benefit whether he is granted a waiver or not. If eligible, he is the second experienced PG on the roster. He is the quickest player on the team and will be able to match up against similar players. He is the third new player from North Carolina, helping to establish Forbes goal of being a major player in NC recruiting. As a Triad native, he will increase local interest in Deacon hoops. He knows how to win, he expects to win and he has legit skills to back that experience.

Good post.

do we have any bigs (transfer or otherwise) on the radar for next season? that’s really the only place where the roster isn’t coming into shape.

Johnson should also be a huge help as well. Barnes had good things to say about his attitude at Rocky Top.

First post has everybody on the radar outside of Mutts. I’ll do an update tonight.

is there any reason to think goodwin isn't headed to usc?

mutts looks awesome, but also more of a combo forward, would probably be tough to have him as your biggest guy on the court (although not without precedent)

i would assume in the next 2 days based on the sauce(we're talking nashville hot) but the situation has had to been handled delicately since he was yanno committed to ETSU

Yeah, had he actually *signed* with ETSU?
Is that the issue?

It's been mostly wishful thinking based off of twitter follows & people throwing his name around behind the scenes but I'd say the odds seem pretty heavily in the "headed to SoCal" camp over anything else. Which is a shame because after watching the ETSU/Wofford SoCon championship game, he was an absolute beast in that game.

no. Wasn't the issue of why it took so long but certainly didn't help. I'm confident in the next couple of days but for now just enjoy the vibes of williamson

How excited should we be about Johnson? Looks like he averaged 3 a game on an average Tennessee.

I see him as a 3 and D guy who can throw down some fun dunks...Maybe a poor mans LD Williams? I think he will be a better overall player than Wright, Wynn, Torrey Johnson and even Andrien White. We have a bunch of guys who will be bombing away behind the arc, so I don’t anticipate Jalen playing a huge role as a scorer.

Excited is relative here. We need bodies. Johnson would be better than any true freshman we’re likely to pick up at this point. He is good enough to see the floor here and will have better numbers simply because of the increased availability of playing time for us. Since he will only be here one season, he will not prevent us from using that scholarship for the 2021 class where we have the potential to pick up a more talented player.

Sounds good. Youtube search showed a nice dunk against Wright St. in the tourney. Clearly athletic.

Based on that Mutts video and looking at his stats, he definitely has a ceiling of being an ACC contributor at either forward spot.
