F is for Fascism (Ferguson MO)

Not a fan of the looting or larceny of small businesses, but isn't every metro area business basically forced to buy insurance for this kind of thing? I get that additional work has to go into rebuilding, but these businesses should be reimbursed. And if not, that's on the scumbags who run the insurance industry. And I could give two shits if this eats into the profits of those social pariahs.

Fuck this noise. Thoughts like that are what allow people to justify vandalism and looting. The actions of those who looted directly impact the owners of the businesses who are being looted. People need to understand that looting will cause people to lose money. They can end up losing their entire business.

Hell, the Target that got looted probably ends up causing more than 1 person who worked in that store to lose their job. At the very least, they lose a paycheck for a period of weeks while the store is closed.

Saying that insurance will cover it (or its a big business, fuck it!) is just another way to pretend like looting/vandalism doesn't actually hurt other people.

I don't value property over people. And as someone who had to have another conversation with his biracial son about what he has to do in the event he is ever stopped by police, I am firmly on the side of the protestors. But I have a hard time getting my mind around it being ok to destroy somebody else's life's work (somebody who may have no impact on racial and/or wealth inequality of those looting/vandalizing) because you are upset at the police or the government.

What percentage of the looting and destruction do we think are being done by people who are actually working for the cause of widespread change?

Maybe I'm being naive, but I would guess most of it is being done by people who are solely there to cause anarchy and don't care about George Lloyd at all.

Can somebody explain to me how "ANTIFA" would even be added the terrorism list? There are no headquarters, and it just means "Anti-Fascist", right?

It's not like people "work for ANTIFA" or whatever.

IDK, MHBD, what is the organizational structure of the local ANTIFA chapter you belong to? Strick care to share about yours?

Exactly little rich white twinks who say they want anarchy but have no idea what it means.

They also have no problem burning down black communities to selfishly try to get what they want.

Trump tells governors they must crack down on protesters.

President Trump lashed out at America’s governors on Monday, warning that they will look like “jerks” if they don’t order protesters arrested and imprisoned.

Speaking on a private conference call, audio of which was obtained by The New York Times, Mr. Trump began the conversation with an extended, angry diatribe.

“You have to dominate,” he told governors on the call. “If you don’t dominate, you’re wasting your time — they’re going to run over you, you’re going to look like a bunch of jerks.”

The president continued: “You have to arrest people, and you have to try people, and they have to go jail for long periods of time.”

Mr. Trump, who has not addressed the nation since the unrest began, said he was putting Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, “in charge,” but did not immediately specify what that meant or if he would deploy the military to quell the violence in the nation’s cities.

“He hates to see the way it’s being handled in the various states,” Mr. Trump said of General Milley.

Alluding to television footage of violence and looting, Mr. Trump called the people committing those acts “scum” and demanded of the governors: “Why aren’t you prosecuting them?” Taking over a call that was supposed to feature Vice President Mike Pence, the president said Minnesota had become “a laughingstock all over the world.”

Yeah I mean it's like when the yesterday on one of the Sunday morning shows said he doesn't believe there is systemic racism. Not a lot you can do with this.

To sailor's credit, he did provide a legitimate post in response to my questions. The false equivalency of property damage vs. loss of human life is an obvious logical failure there, but he did post something.

Except that "it's the dems fault" is not a legitimate response. It is a self-serving one. To be clear, Dems own the blame with the right. But this is not a "left/progressive" problem where the right has this figured out and fixed.
His legitimate response was to say that there is a problem but it is the dem's fault. So, not on him and the repubulicans. They have not responsibility hear.

There aren’t even domestic terror laws for this to have any impact. Our terrorism laws address foreign terrorism

No, there are groups in every city. ANTIFA is more about advancing Communism rather than being Anti-Fascist. It's like saying the DRPK must be good because it has "democratic" in the name.

Here's a post from someone who used to post here who claims to be a member (FBI don't @ me):

I'm in a relatively moderate outfit. The Klan didn't show for the only antifa action we've done since I joined (Pelham counter-march in December). They were too busy stabbing each other at their own rally point iirc.

Good points, I also wish no looting took place. But if this isn’t why you (are forced to) buy insurance, they why does this industry exist? Seems like a fraudulent racket, just like the rest of our corrupt economic system.

Just pointing out how much bullshit our economic system is. And it’s 100% intertwined with our unjust racial structure. Which is why I won’t shed tears when it eventually collapses. People have had enough.

"You have to dominate...if you don't dominate, you're wasting your time." What an (unintentionally) revealing comment about Dear Leaders' worldview. Control or be controlled, kill or be killed. Not exactly the thoughts or instincts of someone who supports democracy or humanitarian values. His conversation with the governors also fits perfectly with what we've seen about his handling of the coronavirus shutdown - talk tough yet dump the actual responsibilities onto the states and cities. He clearly never supported the shutdown from the beginning and has been agitating to reopen everything since it started. But he doesn't have the guts to come out and openly push for it himself, so he's goaded state governors into doing it, and then praised the GOP governors in tweets for doing so, like Kemp and DeSantis. But if they take a wrong step, like Kemp did, then he quickly disowns them. Now he wants the governors and mayors to go out and start shooting and arresting protesters and throwing them in jail, because he doesn't want the responsibility of doing it himself. I'm sure that if one of these mayors or governors did what he wanted and people were killed and there was a backlash, he would quickly criticize that mayor or governor and disown any responsibility. What a leader! What a man! #maga

People looting just want to steal shit, they aren't rioters or protestors. Kinda difficult to protest injustice with an armful of stolen retail goods. The continued knashing of teeth over these people being counter-productive is fucking stupid - They aren't there to be productive.

Isn't looting to steal shit the definition of rioting?

That's a fair point. Both are just taking advantage of the situation, but I consider theft and destruction two different types of crime, arson and stealing an iPad shouldn't be judged equally IMO

The Raleigh protesters showed off their intelligence by vandalizing and looting Ashley Christiansen's restaurants! For those of you who don't know, she is gay and a progressive leader who's motto is not to forget kindness. Fuck her!

This her?
