Better Call Saul, The Mafia Game. Indies Win! Gooner, GAT and Duff

I heard your answers, your answers were not particularly helpful. I told you multiple times I was not going to be around at night but wanted to be sure i got my request in so that I could be protected that night.

I specifically told you that I was not in danger of dying so I wanted to use it that night since I'd been cleared as a civ so I obviously did not want to use it during the day. You never addressed that at all and never gave any details about what was going on.

I also told you that I was not going to be around at night but I wanted the protection to kick in at night. You didn't assist me at all in reaching that process. You could have simply told me that there was no guarantee with the mechanics that I could hit the protection at night. Instead you just kept repeating confusing instructions that were not helpful at all.

I had no idea that there was an actual person out there approving or denying claims who had to respond for me to get whatever it was I was supposedly paying for with the money that I randomly got gifted.

To say I was not happy about the reveal rule is the understatement of the century. If someone is allowed to speculate about my role as the role cop in an investigative capacity and I cannot respond to it without breaking the rules, it's an entirely unfair situation. It's why GAT was able to railroad me.

well that and that you were silenced by gooner

Ah I thought yall had silenced me in tandem.

No I made that decision because you are an endgame wildcard and I knew that silencing you would mean less of a chance that things swung against me

Makes sense - I thought GAT silenced me knowing he was going to bring out information about my ID change which would remove my ability to respond to it.

Honestly i know the outcome looks wildly unbalanced but a lot went right for mafs/indy to get there.

How did Tejas become not aligned with the Indy anymore? Was that a choice and how does that work with him being still alive until Gooner vigged him?

Everyone else kept their alignment but lost their powers when they got the new ID (which is why Townie aka The Police Benevolent Fund gave away ~5m in cash). Huell was unaware of his powers and was designed to come back civ if investigated. Once he lost his powers (BG + Saul could choose to assign one of his JOAT powers to him), it didn't make sense to have him on the indy squad, so he became a vanilla civ. I would not have done that with Kim due to her role.

Had Saul chosen for Huell to make a hit, fearing a bomb/BG. Huell would have not been protecting Saul that night. Huell could only execute one task per night.

@ Parlay - you obviously put a lot of thought into the game, don't want to come off sounding like too much of a twat about the traitor stuff. A lot of unique stuff that was pretty cool. And I had a great time in chatzy

You will not want to go back and read through the chatzy. That was one of probably 4 or 5 times a similar thing happened.

Full disclosure: I only lied about what i was sending toogs once. In the first or second message i added "Gooner and Duff need to live".

Which was fortunate for them that you did. Toogs was using his vig on one or the other until you sent that message. Would have been a much different game.

I had sent in "vig duff" before I got the recruitment message, and retracted it

@parlay I still don't know why my vig was secret was it so I could kill knight if I wanted to, theme wise? I've watched enough to know that's a thing lol

Did Gooner know all of this and still not choose me? TURD

I mentioned it in deadchat but I think that there should've been some reference to the $$$ component in the ruleset so it wasn't a completely closed setup on that front in addition to nights being set longer so people with vanilla roles who generally wouldn't be looking for PMs would know there were different night mechanics.

The long nights is definitely a legit complaint. If you ever watch Breaking Bad or BCS (IMO, BCS is a the better show but BB enhances your enjoyment of it), maybe you will understand it better.

The Role that Da played is for when the cartel is coming for you and you have to get the hell out of town and disappear off the face of the earth to survive. By nature, it is a covert action. I did misjudge the show's popularity and assumed people would pick up on it, which is why I should have skipped that mechanic. I was looking for more civ advantages and that was the last thing I added in. I regret it, which I have stated repeatedly. I won't do so again because I'm already beating a dead horse.

Parlay you and I finally agree on something. BCS is so much better than BB. BB is fine but it tries to do absurd with a straight face. BCS so much more nuanced but still absurd.

TEJAS' CIV/MAFIA LIST:

civ:
jtp
toogs
duff
qt
ryala

bad:
doofus
juice
bym

probably bad:
rw
maybe gooner

You all are welcome

THIS TERRIBLE LIST WASNT SO TERRIBLE. Missed bad on toogs. Juice was special. Doofus was atrocious (sorry doof)

Did Gooner know all of this and still not choose me? TURD

Gooner did not know who you were nor did he know you were his personal BG (though he said he suspected that after you died). He did know Huell was on his team once he found Kim and became an indy. He also learned at that time he could assign his powers to you on a night by night basis. He did not know that assigning a power would void his protection.

And no criticism to real life but I tried to tell you this would be a shitshow. You honestly have to block off Monday-Weds if you run a game of this complexity. No haircuts, no graduation parties, no wife, no life. Or have a comod that doesn't go on a pain pill binge and never come back.

AGREE

lol how were civs ever supposed to have a chance in this game, everything went right for civs, fuckups went in town's favor (it seems) and we still got PLOWED

I thought knight got away with stuff early that normally gets him pushed up and I thought just him not being around would have raised suspicions. Toogs sticking on Duff and then feigning not seeing duff's claim (that's how I read it) and gooner (who killed 3 or 4 civs) after dickstepping about knowing kim could/should have gotten more heat. With all the variables in the game, it could have triggered a bunch of different ways. Say Mafia 1 decides to hit Duff night 1. Gooner stays Jimmy and is a civ all game with a BG.
Or maybe you hold your money until you are concerned for a civ getting hit or you become concerned that a civ is being lynched and you gift it to them then to buy them another round. When Numbers didn't die, it threw both mafias. A couple more of those and I was going to get roasted in mafia chat (like I didn't anyway). The game started 20 vs 5 vs 5. If the indy doesn't form, that's more than fair, especially having cop masons. I think you undervalue how powerful that is and how powerful an angel vs a BG is. It was unfortunate that ryala drew angel. He played it great but he often gets targeted

I feel like I've covered this enough as well. I'm sorry if you feel cheated. Did Jim Valvano complain that it was unfair when he had to play Phi Slamma Jamma? (you probably weren't born)

How did that mechanic work? Maybe I missed it in someone's writeup

Given what you say, I should have gotten my vig back. 100%

You sent in a hit. The hit failed. That's it in it's simplest terms. I know you and I love you, so I know you will disagree. If you were the hittee and discovered I gave the vig back that killed you, you would unquestionably have the opposite opinion. You like to kill people. I get it. :D
