Totally Unofficial 2019/2020 Premier League Thread (NWT)

I did a Transfermarkt deep dive to try and prove my point, but I think my old feelings about Tottenham are no longer true. The last crop of youth players they threw away was 4-5 years ago. Janssen, N'Koulou and N'Jie among others. They've definitely become less wasteful due to the stadium debt.

Honestly Everton's recent acquisitions (3-4 years) of Klaassen, Sandro, Lookman, Vlasic and Onyekuru was much worse. Vlasic was the only decent one of the whole lot and we gave him away for peanuts.

Spuds fans I will longer hold that stigma over your dumb club's head.

Janssen just kinda sucked. The rest you can’t necessarily blame them for. Chelsea I see what you’re saying a bit more but also they’re a savvy club when it comes to transfers. They’ve definitely bought over top of some good players unnecessarily too.

Spurs are back playing tonight. Somehow this seems different than the Bundesliga returning, just because the UK still really is suffering.

By far the biggest thing to come through this break in matches is what a remarkable human being Marcus Rashford is. He'll have my respect forever.

Every once in a while I remember that Lorenzo Insigne, Marco Verratti, and Ciro Immobile were all on the same Pescara team in Serie B coached by Zdenek Zemen, and that is some shit I would have liked to have seen.

Edinson Cavani, Javier Pastore, Simon Kjær & Salvatore Sirigu along with Italian legend Fabrizio Miccoli were all on the same Palermo team for 2 insane seasons. Seems there's always randomly loaded squads for brief bursts in Serie A.

btw - sidenote to that 2010 Palermo team is that Fabrizio Miccoli is now spending 3 years in prison for having the son of a mafia boss extort people for debts he was owed. Because Sicily is going to Sicily.

Some back and forths already in this Norwich/Saints game. Feel like Norwich should have already had one.

Pretty meh first 15 mins. Both teams appear to be playing at half speed. Could see this finishing 1-0 or 0-0.

Welp nevermind its amped up dramatically in the last 10 mins

What a run and finish from Dutch Steve

Harry Maguire did his best traffic cone impression there

Maguire was in slow motion on that goal. Really poor defending.

Dave was poor to let it go in still. However, his save on Son's header kinda made up for it.

hahaha and as if on cue, Danny James booked for a retaliation foul on Dier

how that was worse than what Lamela did to McTominay around the 15th min, I'll never know

Pogba coming on

for Fred or McTominay, I wonder?

Greenwood coming on too, be shocked if it isn't for James; he's been so poor today.

Harry Kane sauntering around today like a 40 year old. I know he's coming back from injury and everything, but the legs definitely don't look too fresh.
