Redskins Name Change Thread

You don't get to decide how something makes someone else feel. You may not understand it or agree with it or accept it but whether someone else is hurt by something is not up to you.

Feelings nothing but feelings....No proof exist that anyone is hurt by the name Redskins nor by looking at a particular statue. I dislike tats on women and pants on the ground and those are feelings, nothing but feelings, and no amount of complaining will change that.

No proof exists among your old, white, racist, snowflake friends.

oh, well if the board's resident neo-nazi thinks so

Hardly...........my parents spent 5 years under Nazi occupation and, yes, we are observing the tyranny of the minority. Something Lenin used to perfection. Of course there is no comparison with the woke crowd. Am sure that name changing will send this country into a race free utopia.

Are you really this stupid? Or are you just trying to entertain yourself by being an ass on the internet?

You might want to do a bit of research: USAGE NOTE FOR REDSKIN
The date and origin of this term is in dispute. Evidence seems to show that in the 1760s, French colonists in the Mississippi Valley translated a Native American spoken term into the French language as peau rouge , which was then translated into English as redskin. Through the early part of the 19th century, American Indians continued to use their native word self-referentially, and it was translated into spoken and written English as redskin with no derogatory connotations, even as a term of respect. However, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, within the historical context of white-Indian hostilities, use of the term redskin was associated with attitudes of contempt and condescension. By the 1960s, redskin had declined in use; because of heightened cultural sensitivities, it was perceived as offensive. Yet use of the term survives in the names of some sports teams.......................Hail to the Redskins.

These days Feelings trump ($#@@) thinking. So head on out to our non racist utopia. Get rid of all (bad) names and we will all feel better.

One Fred Smith >>>>>>>>>>> all other Smiths combined.

At least on this issue.

What’s the word on the Indians or Braves?

The Braves are in a better spot than most NL teams, as they have a few players on the bench capable of being a reliable DH. It's disappointing that we are doing away with National League rules, as I always enjoyed the strategy of hitting around the 9 spot in the lineup.

Tomahawk chop is tricky because it doesn't really have to be team sanctioned to live on. You can't stop tens of thousands of idiots from doing that if they really want to. Chief Wahoo, yeah, I think we've already seen the Indians pull back from that.

Hey Dutch, do you think Snyder should hire Richard Spencer to keep the "heritage" of George Preston Marshall?

Marshall had to the be threatened with losing his team if he continued to refuse to integrate his team. He maintained a quota of black players for years. Yep, let's celebrate his racism with a racist team name.

Let's keep the "heritage" of the Washington team going!

Sure....then the Washington Aztecs would be better. We tear out your hearts every season. But, we can't say BAD things about first nations can we?

Whenever someone complains about “tyranny of the minority,” you know they’re just saying they support tyranny from the majority.
