Do people even notice the purposeful letter mixup in my username? I remember thinking it was pretty funny/clever in the aftermath of his misdeeds. Maybe I need to go with a better avatar.

I’d say beaches, Jacksonville beach rube suck central, then pretty much in the clear until Myrtle beach, maybe Tybee to avoid, then after clear from Myrtle to Virginia Beach. Anything in between those points is pretty good. True outer banks North Carolina is probably the best.

I'm coming to an end of a week at Topsail right now. This is our first time, and we came because of the Covid and the lack of crowds. I've been impressed so far. This may be our new go to destination.

Other than Emerald Isle on a nice south swell, Folly Beach has the best waves between Wilmington and Florida, and it's awesome if you love surfing with 250 aggro assholes.

I noticed it but didn't know what it was in reference to. But then again, I'm dumb.

I always thought the picture looked weird. Like his face isn't the face most people make when you fist pump, his hand looks a little small, and the arm angle is a little off. Like the photo was a photo of his face and then someone added in the arm. Maybe that's just me.

I agree, I’m posting from the antithesis of Myrtle beach in South Carolina right now. It’s just that somehow Myrtle beach defense gets wrapped up in all beaches where it sucks bad, like 2&2 vacations there that’s all that needs to be said, argument over.

I sort of understand the appeal if you’re a #poor which 2&2 most likely is not so yeah I don’t really get it.

we used to go there as a family when i was kid, i always loved it

for people who complain they have to go to myrtle because KIDS it just sorta sounds like u have shitty kids

when i was a child i could play in the ocean for like 10 straight hours and not get bored, just all kinds of body surfing and boogie boarding shit going down while my dad fished and my mom read a book on teh beach

I haven't been to Topsail in 20 years, but I loved it back in the day. I personally like beaches with nothing to do but be in the ocean all day.

if you can't build something using only your imagination and two hands on a nice sandy beach then my friend you are a lame child

u gotta build several sand structures in advance of the tide and then play defense by trying to protect it with sand walls and moats as the water slowly encroaches

Sullivans Island has gotten jampacked with people over the past several years. Used to be laid back and still is except during the high season. Now it's pretty much impossible to park and go eat dinner there. Beach restrictions are pretty tight there too.

Townie pretending not to be fascinated by every word I say is one of my favorite new board memes.

If you like topsail for these reasons (which I do) then Holden beach has these same qualities turned up to 11. Island’s narrower too so it’s not quite as crucial to get a house right on the beach.

Oh my sweet, sweet innocent Townie. I’m saving this quote to send back to you in 5 years.

The Charleston beaches are nice and all but the no drinking thing, and the fact that they are apparently pretty serious about it, puts a damper on my enjoyment of them...

I like the idea of the outer banks, the nature and the beauty and what not. But, as compared to Emerald Isle, Topsail, and all the beaches farther south, including Myrtle, the water is cold, the seafood is weird (no flounder?), sweet tea is not readily available (I don't even drink sweet tea, but how can you be in NC and not serve sweet tea, and act like you don't even get it??) - it felt a little like the Jersey Shore to me - without the boardwalk and all the Jersey-ites, of course. We vacationed there a few years in a row and enjoyed it but it never felt like our place. I especially enjoyed a day we drove from up around Kitty Hawk down to Ocracoke and back, checking out beaches and lighthouses and stuff...

Same, if you're there just for the beach, Emerald Isle and Wilmington area beaches are much better.

What? I grew up in Wilmington and now live in Charleston. Waves at Folly are not better than those at some of the Wilmington area beaches. I mean surfing at Folly is fine but this is overrating it.
