Do people even notice the purposeful letter mixup in my username? I remember thinking it was pretty funny/clever in the aftermath of his misdeeds. Maybe I need to go with a better avatar.
I’d say beaches, Jacksonville beach rube suck central, then pretty much in the clear until Myrtle beach, maybe Tybee to avoid, then after clear from Myrtle to Virginia Beach. Anything in between those points is pretty good. True outer banks North Carolina is probably the best.

I agree, I’m posting from the antithesis of Myrtle beach in South Carolina right now. It’s just that somehow Myrtle beach defense gets wrapped up in all beaches where it sucks bad, like 2&2 vacations there that’s all that needs to be said, argument over.
I'm coming to an end of a week at Topsail right now. This is our first time, and we came because of the Covid and the lack of crowds. I've been impressed so far. This may be our new go to destination.

u gotta build several sand structures in advance of the tide and then play defense by trying to protect it with sand walls and moats as the water slowly encroaches
I haven't been to Topsail in 20 years, but I loved it back in the day. I personally like beaches with nothing to do but be in the ocean all day.
we used to go there as a family when i was kid, i always loved it
for people who complain they have to go to myrtle because KIDS it just sorta sounds like u have shitty kids
when i was a child i could play in the ocean for like 10 straight hours and not get bored, just all kinds of body surfing and boogie boarding shit going down while my dad fished and my mom read a book on teh beach
Sullivans Island has gotten jampacked with people over the past several years. Used to be laid back and still is except during the high season. Now it's pretty much impossible to park and go eat dinner there. Beach restrictions are pretty tight there too.

It's a good lesson for kids to gain understanding of the meaninglessness of life.
I like the idea of the outer banks, the nature and the beauty and what not. But, as compared to Emerald Isle, Topsail, and all the beaches farther south, including Myrtle, the water is cold, the seafood is weird (no flounder?), sweet tea is not readily available (I don't even drink sweet tea, but how can you be in NC and not serve sweet tea, and act like you don't even get it??) - it felt a little like the Jersey Shore to me - without the boardwalk and all the Jersey-ites, of course. We vacationed there a few years in a row and enjoyed it but it never felt like our place. I especially enjoyed a day we drove from up around Kitty Hawk down to Ocracoke and back, checking out beaches and lighthouses and stuff...
Other than Emerald Isle on a nice south swell, Folly Beach has the best waves between Wilmington and Florida, and it's awesome if you love surfing with 250 aggro assholes.
