Well, the other 51 weeks a year of civil order aren't getting it done. You have to ask yourself whether Chicago, or even our nation as a whole deserves peace. Perhaps cheap imported electronics and 12 different flavors of Doritos arent enough to sustain civil order.

Call me crazy, but I seriously doubt the "Freeloading = Acceptable" mantra over here would be consistently applied if white Covington Catholic kids wearing MAGA hats were the ones looting the Apple Store.

You're right, I wouldn't apply the same judgement to upper middle class whites looting as I do poor African American communities, because of 400 years of history.

oh no, you got me with "the soft bigotry of low expectations." dont i feel shitty for generalizing a mass of looters as poor. Surely many of them are successful professionals. Very respectful of you to point that out.
 
kinda blows my mind that anyone would be surprised by looting and the like given the conditions of the black underclass in the America caste system

I'm sure I just missed it, but don't recall many of the "social protesters" in these communities taking items from stores and dumping them in the harbor...or where the colonists took the tea over to Southie and fenced it.

its a mythologized story told 20th hand, where would you have learned sordid details about the Boston Tea Party? Hell, Howard Zinn wrote an entire American History book from researching firsthand accounts thats full of those kind of details, and conservatives refuse to believe a word of it.

Obviously things can improve tremendously in comparison to how they are now, meaning access to healthcare, shelter, food, and clean water through out this country and more so the world. With that said I see no future where there is not some stratification of having more than others, how much that is and what that is always subject to change but will exist.

I find it hilarious that people actually believe colonists just threw away very valuable tea. That story never made sense to me even when I was a kid.

It's not about some people having more than others. It's about some people having more than others without having to work for it and others having little chance to get more no matter how hard they work.
