the idea of a ten year old reading the first two harry potter books and then deciding it's not for them is really not something my mind can handle.

The idea of a forty year old doing the same is only marginally imaginable. The books were fantastic.

Encyclopedia Brown def the GOAT

To this day, whenever I hear anyone talk about speed measured in knots, I think back to the encyclopedia brown book where he figured out the criminal because he was pretending to be a sailor but said "knots per hour" instead of just knots, which already has the unit of time built into the measurement. Memories are weird.

look fuckface, you're either ready to reap this freaky assed harvest or you're not. Football starts tonight and that means FALL

they got them cinnamon brooms at the entrance to my grocery store now which throws you off when they also have a big display just inside of summer produce like watermelon, peaches, tomatoes and corn.

I'm on board. I think fall should start on August 1 and end on November 1. "Fall" on December 10 seems disingenuous.

There is no fall. There is only summer and winter and it makes me want to take a header out the window.

yeah and Christmas is only technically a few days into winter when all month long you're hearing about winter wonderlands and let it snow and Frosty and such

https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/news/meteorological-versus-astronomical-seasons

Meteorological spring includes March, April, and May; meteorological summer includes June, July, and August; meteorological fall includes September, October, and November; and meteorological winter includes December, January, and February.

It is fall.

this really solves so many problems, at least in the south. December is now winter, which solves Barca's complaint. And March is now spring, as it should be.

I mean, I'm on your page. But the article you linked says fall doesn't start until September 22.

The equinoxes mark the times when the sun passes directly above the equator. In the Northern Hemisphere, the summer solstice falls on or around June 21, the winter solstice on or around December 22, the vernal or spring equinox on or around March 21, and the autumnal equinox on or around September 22. These seasons are reversed but begin on the same dates in the Southern Hemisphere.

Meteorological = just another synonym for "big gay."

March is a bullshit month. You expect spring and flowers and greenery but it's fucking cold and rainy and no leaves on the trees.

Strong. Yes. I can't fight with you. Everything you say is right.

It's also a bullshit month because people born in March are Taurus and stubborn as hell.

this is starting to be the time of the year when I don't know what to wear. I'm going to Blowing Rock tonight and the temps this weekend are like low 70s/low 60s. Do I need a sweater with jeans? Seems like overkill. But I'll prob be cold in shorts or in jeans with a polo.

march isn't taurus, dipshit.

also, gtfo with your "astronomical" seasons. they are stupid and you know it.

I am sure that its almost Fall weather in somewhere like Asheville, and New England Fall is the best fall, but for the south its just an extension of the hot hellscape that is summer. Its like the humidity drops a little and instead of mid 90s we get mid 80s and ride that till sometime in October.

it's still p hot in Asheville, but always cools off at night. Blowing Rock is usually 10-20 degrees colder than here. I haven't worn jeans since March when I was last in the office.
