COVID Thread 2: Operation Ludicrous Speed ! (Super Political!!!)

So my mom was recently in the hospital with pneumonia (covid negative) and got out last Thursday with negative covid test. Discharged to rehab. Tested positive last night. Vibes please.

You're right, the majority of folks who get COVID end up feeling shitty for a couple of days and then they move on with their lives. However, everyone isn't that lucky and it effects everyone differently. We also don't have a vaccine for it and when we do finally get one, how sure can we be it'll be highly effective?

I don't think it's the end of times, but it's worth being concerned about it and I think it's messed up to be so unsympathetic to those who lost their lives and those who have had families ripped apart because of it. You can be pissed at the situation we are in as a country while also realizing COVID is no joke and it's worth taking precautions to look after our fellow Americans.

Plus who knows what the long term effects are. Remember when every kid got chicken pox and it was no big deal? And then the p years later some of those people died of shingles?

This is an incredibly dumb post.
 
Its basically as selfish as you can get with no regards for anyone else in society. It is also the attitude of millions up millions of other people and the reason why things are so bad. Its like a play by play of what they think happened in their mind while none of it actually happening so things continued to get worse.

I agree man. Let's push this death count to 300, 400, 500, 600K. But then a lot of people will have it and deaths will a be smaller proportion! That's all that matters - deaths as a proportion of cases. Shit, the flu kills [far fewer] people than that every year. But it's pretty similar. And we don't shut everything down for the flu.

[Note: I sit here and I write out the logical conclusion of his post and I'm just amazed at how short-sighted you have to be not to think through the conclusion of your argument.]
 
The hardest part for me during all of this was not when my wife and I caught COVID, it was watching my MIL for 3 months being emotionally torn apart and not being able to visit her mom who shortly thereafter passed away.

Have you thought about those people 2&2?

What about women giving birth who have always dreamed of having an important couple of people in the delivery room with them but not allowed?

We can go on and on about the actual sadness that this has caused people. But let's just focus on your inconveniences.
