Wake Forest Basketball Recruiting: Juke Harris Commits!!

This isn't directly Wake related, but is indirectly because Wake will face these guys. The Athletic somehow got details about the on-campus visits to u*NC-CH of Caleb Love and Walker Kessler. Total cost of the weekend visits was just under $12,000. Both committed.

A few interesting tidbits. There is a shoe wall on campus that has a pair of every Jordan shoe displayed. Michael Jordan helps out in recruiting even when he isn't on campus.

When it was barbecue time, they had barbecue sent from Mission Barbecue in Fayetteville. I would have expected they would go with a local place, not a chain place 90 miles from campus.

Mission? Not allen and son's. Bullock's in Durham? And they still recruit well. Curse them.

That's North Carolina Barbecue malfeasance right there

But if you’re getting something from out of town they should’ve gone with Sam Jones BBQ from Winterville.

Not seeing a thread for it, but interesting that Michigan Fansided doesn’t name Chaundee as contender to start for them. Must be one hell of a team that doesn’t start Chaundee.

Mission BBQ, the chain? They're not even that good.

Looks like Hildreth will be playing against France and Montenegro with Great Britain's senior national team in late November. Should he see any playing time this could be a great opportunity to judge him against opposition at or above ACC level. I'm not sure which crop of players France will have access to due to covid and the NBA offseason but if I remember correctly France is usually a top five national team in the world and has some serious talent.

That's good stuff. Hope he gets some serious PT. Even if it's B Level France talent, I imagine that's comparable to mid level ACC talent, no? But yeah, if France has their typical team then it would be equivalent of high level NCAA ball I'd imagine.

France's typical national men's basketball team would be the equivalent of an NBA lottery team or a good G-League team + Rudy Gobert.

Looks like the Great Britain - Montenegro game is 11/27 and the Great Britain-France is 11/29.

Great Britain lost to Montenegro and beat Germany in February.

I don't remember this article about the call up being posted. This is a huge honor. But it's an honor. He's being called up to the 24 man roster. There will be a 12 man roster for both games and 11 of the 12 players who beat Germany will be there as well.
https://www.basketballengland.co.uk...-landmark-for-rising-starlet-with-gb-call-up/

[h=4]NBL starlet Cameron Hildreth has received a first Great Britain senior call-up for the FIBA Eurobasket Qualifiers this month.[/h] The 18-year-old Worthing Thunder prospect, who recently committed to top NCAA college Wake Forest, has been named in the 24-man squad for the games against France and Montenegro.
It is the first time in recent memory a home-based player from outside the BBL has been selected.

Here's the important info about any potential playing time.

GB go into the games in top form having won eight of their last ten games including a convincing 81-73 victory over Germany last time out.
Eleven of the 12 players who featured in that important win in Newcastle are recalled, while the coaching staff remains unchanged with Marc Steutel again stepping in as acting head coach, assisted by Jamie Smith and Andreas Kapoulas.

It would be huge if he made a roster. He's one of only four players on the 24 man roster with 0 caps. It's possible they want to go ahead and get him capped though.

Smithfield's in Mebane would have been another good, relatively close option and the fried chicken would have sealed the deal.

Allen & Sons is closed and Bullocks is not good.

Best BBQ in the area is from Picnic in Durham.

admittedly Bullocks is eastern, but I didn't think they were going to Lexington....

Although I do remember some great hushpuppies at Bullock's.

Of course it's been a decade or so...
