Running Man was great too btw, very different from the movie obvi. I'd be interested to see a more faithful film adaptation, it seems like a great candidate for an updated remake

A few years ago I emailed my friend, a part time screen writer, an idea for a new adaption of The Running Man set in North Korea. The gist was that these Chinese brothers out fishing in the Yellow Sea get drunk and accidentally cross into the NK exclusion zone, and wind up on North Koreas most popular national tv network gameshow

i made salmon croquettes last week. kids love them.

My mom made those growing up using canned salmon, loved em with lemon juice. Didn’t like biting into the one round salmon bone in every single croquette.

So like one of these things?

I looked at them early on in pandemic and they all pretty much got terrible reviews for one reason or another.

My coworkers and supervisors are fucking awesome. This is absolutely the most positive and supportive work environment I’ve ever been a part of. My job doesn’t pay shit, but I really enjoy working here.

Yeah I’m grateful to work where I do right now too. Pay is mediocre but benefits are excellent, the mission is good, and they value work-life balance.

what would you say is the threshold for "good pay"?

obviously depends on a tons of factors, which is why I want people to answer for themselves

It’s so different for different jobs and cities and such. Considering I’m 10 years out of school and I’m DC i should probably be making more but that’s ok. With my wife’s income we do fine. If I left the industry I could make 25% more.

That’s a good question. Lot of factors involved, local standard of living, local demand for my skills, my qualifications, similar local employment opportunities. In my field of work a bachelors degree doesn’t really mean anything, it’s just a credential that helps you in the application process. The only other resembling employment opportunities with better compensation are private contracting, which i’m frankly not qualified for. So all I really have to base my opinion on is pay in this area for a full time job requiring training and experience in the field.

If I were working in a profit-seeking business, in a career with the same demands, I’d expect to make probably 25-35% more in Winston Salem.

sometimes I'm like "wow, kinda hard to believe I make this money relative to the median income" and other times it's like "wow, I should make more money considering how much money is being made off my labor"

I've slowly made incrementally more money every year since college. Lets just say that the bar started so low that even with a small increase each year, I'm still not making enough money to bang Mako and Knight's mom at the same time or anything.

I do wonder how graduating in '09 while the job market was trash affected my and my peers' perspective on their income

How have I never heard of tuna casserole? I'm kinda shocked that it's a real thing.
