DUNE Mafia -Game over, CIVS WIN

Mods did a good job. Some small growing pains with the new mods but nothing that affected the game. Both took hard stances on the issues and were not swayed by the players. I enjoyed it.

Awesome so Damo and Da Deacs were both civs, as was I. Da Deacs I find it hilarious how twice now its turned out we were both civs but we each thought the other had to be mafia because of the numbers.
 
It is my curse to end up at the end not having been investigated and being a civ.

It is probably because I am an overall bad mafia player and not threatening at all, especially early in the game. Still fun, I enjoy it.

Yes, Mafia 1 only had 4 players to start, but had the potential to recruit 1 or 2 more, while Mafia 2 had 5 but no recruiting ability.

The unblockable hit on 7erps was also a big swing. That killed a mafia member and left a BG alive.
 
So it turns out the round toppings went all crazy and switched last second we had 2 mafia members in that tie (gs and historicus)?
 
Couple of thoughts:

1) Da -- I would have bet my life you were mafia at one point in the game. On day 2 after a few posts I was utterly convinced you and 03 were mafia. Can't really point to something specific right now without going back through the thread, but I thought you were guilty the whole game until you made the post at the end asking Kanhoji to investigate you.

2) Historicus -- good idea with that role claim. I sort of just accepted you as a civ at the time because I figured mafia 1 would have a godfather since I was the godfather in the first mafia, and therefore it would make sense to have someone looking for him. I didn't really consider you as mafia until mathematically you had to be considered, and then WFU03 made a sketchy post naming three people who he thought could be mafia, and I think I said in dead chat that based on the rule of 3, you could be mafia since Diego wasn't, and I thought damo played a civ game all game, and you were the other he brought up. Good job by your squad to have role claims planned. I thought for sure that one of Bentley or Da was mafia based on the lack of claiming forever (and the fact that I just figured they had 5 so one of them mathematically had to be dirty).

3) I also didn't really buy bernie or QT's claims at first. It became obvious over time they were telling the truth, but QT seemed bogus initially, not outright claiming, then dropping the name, and then becoming way too defensive about why I wasn't protected night 1. When she made that post day 2, I thought she was mafia, but it became clear over time she wasn't. Our mafia, losing me and SD3 night one, never really had the chance to fire at a bodyguard or cop and risk losing one because we were hit hard so early, especially after the whole 7erps/Raise debacle.

Good work by Doofus not giving up and giving it a shot till the end.
 
i swear Bentleys if you could see my PMs to the mods, I had you to investigate like 3 times and then switched to someone else. I always had you as the backup investigation
 
I really was silenced day 2. I knew QT was bg, but couldn't say anything.

I was SHOCKED you didn't already know who I was. We were supposedly romantically involved in some way, and I knew who you were but was expressly forbidden from revealing that.
 
As far as my Cala City claim goes, I was just going to use a generic fremen claim, but I was about to get lynched on day 5. I needed to pick some sort of civ power role for people to save me so I could use my hunt that night, so I decided to go for an off the wall one in the hopes that people would use the "no way he could have made up a role like that" logic. It didn't really work, but it seemed like a few people bought that line of reasoning.

And yes, we only got sent two fake role claims by redwing. Hist used one and 7erps used the other, so I was kind of scrambling for a bit there.
 
Pretty sure we had two fake claims as well, not that we ever even had a chance to use them.
 
Yeah... as I mentioned, there are very few named characters, but I wanted to save some decent ones for the mafia. That's why there were characters like Harah and Otheym in the game... I was literally looking through the book to find names or minor characters and they just aren't there. I also had Leto II and Ghanima (Paul's twin children) on opposite safe claim lists to encourage a fake communication role between the two mafias as cover. I suppose that required a bit more familiarity than I should have expected, though.

That's also why there were two different generic characters.

This could have easily been a four mafia game with the two Houses, the Bene Tlelaxu and the Bene Gesserit all working against the House Atreides civs.

If nothing else, I hope this got a few people interested in the source material. The book is obviously the best one to pursue (they nearly always are). The movie is... ok. It has it's moments, but it really is impossible to cram a book with so many subplots into a two hour movie. But it does have Sting in it, so that's something. The Syfy miniseries was much better, and I've heard that their version of Children of Dune was also very good.

I wasn't a Godfather. I was just a mafia searcher/recruiter. I missed my target(dxl) and once he died I had no power. I claimed Hawat because it made a lot of sense for him to be involved with Piter since they're both Mentats.
 
Also what's the rule of 3?

Redwing: I think Gesserit and Tleilax should've been recruitable indies.
 
Right, but you claimed you were searching for someone, basically inferring they were a godfather, which seemed reasonable to our mafia since we had a godfather and it would make sense if someone could look just for that role.
